nothing wrong but bairstow's test average since jan 2022 is 70 or something equally ridiculous, he need to be in somewhere. i would rather drop crawley but either will do

Ali caught cheating and fined 25% of his match fee.

I actually caught this live watching him spray his hands and found it suspicious.

I hope the ECB further give him an additional ban than what the ICC did like what CA did with Warner, Smith and Bancroft

As a neutral that lives in England, bazball has made me switch to supporting Australia. The decleration is a mix of arrogance and stupidity and I can't get behind that.

Does Bairstow even keep for his county?

magnificent innings, not just the runs but making our lads bowl 50+ overs at him will no doubt help aus over the next 4 tests. kind of nice even as an england fan to see someone play a proper hard nosed test innings

pleased for robinson to get the wicket, often seems to get less than his bowling would appear to deserve

there was some pretty daft **** in that innings, pretty nice to get out of it with a lead

aussies got their line wrong to start the 1st innings and doing it again here. way too many easy singles off the pads on offer

Anyone think Crawley has improved? He doesn't seem like he's about to edge into the cordon every 5 minutes in the last innings.

Last time he played and didn't keep was May 2014 (Andy Hodd keeper) and he's played 33 games since.

he looks better but i think its likely to be a combo of the the aussies bowling it on his hip way too much plus flat pitch

It is flat tbf but I was thinking he's improved his patience/concentration.

not to be churlish but how much better would it be to have a 70 run lead rather than a 35 run lead. for ****s sake.

You can't just assume that things work out the same except the one thing you change.

If we don't declare early then maybe Australia are still batting now with a lead.

or maybe we have a lead of 125

Maybe.

I think not declaring is obviously on the more cautious and rational side of things but then you might also get a bunch more rational and cautious fields and not get these wickets.

Nothing is certain but it's all kinda connected.
