The lack of diversity in all historic Aussie squads in general does point to systematic racism within the whole fabric of the game over there though... NZ is not much better in that regard. There is a massive potential player pool both sides have not accessed properly
This systemmic racism point is total nonsense. Honestly, where are you pulling this rubbish from?
Cricket is hardly played in schools and is a relatively more inconvenient game for your kids to play than other sports due to the time it takes to play and the time of year it’s played at.
So the kids who play it are far more likely to be weighted towards the kids of parents who played or had a history in the game because it’s those parents who encourage their kids to play it.
the ethnic origins of non Caucasian Australians just aren’t from cricketing nations outside of the 2% from India. Outside of the UK, the majority of our immigrants come from South East Asia and Southern Europe…countries with no cricketing background. And for whatever reason the indigenous population of Australia (a little less than 3% of all Australians) are far more passionate about the football codes than cricket despite the significant investment in developing cricket in indigenous areas
