I just want to say it is amazing that no one in the West Indies coaching team have told their batsmen to come forward on a 5th day wicket instead of playing back. Amazing.

5 for Woakes basically sums up the quality of the West Indies batting line up. Oh well at least they made the series last right until the last afternoon of the last test match even if it was aided by rain.

It is classic park cricket bowling.

I am impressed that they turned up for the series at all. Fair play to them.

Basically this. Great to have some cricket even if some of it was half-baked.

Does anyone have a good link to an article/paper about the University of the West Indies cricket scheme and how/why it was set up and how/why it was defunded? I half caught a conversation on Guerilla Cricket about this, but didn't glean the details.

and a really tough tour for cricket reason as well. Very English conditions and some experienced bowling to put it mildly.

Anderson & Broad both got Braithwaite for their 500th wicket. Amazing

Yes. I certainly wasn't trying to take a shot at the WI there.

Well, not at the players and the organization of the tour.

There seem to be structural problems, imo, with WI cricket .. but that's a separate question. Or maybe semi-separate. idk.

Trying to get 20 countries to play as one has challenges. It's always been an issue with WI cricket but in th4 past they made up for it with insane talent. Their boring stocks look decent but they need some batsmen to develop into chamderpaul sarwan levels to compete in tests.

Every time it looks like they could have found some decent grinders - this year Brooks looked in the ball park - but .. idk. That's why I was trying to get more info about this UWI academy sort of thing. Again, if anyone has any links to this I'd be grateful.

Also in the past WI players spend summers in England honing their craft and learning to play on good pitches. WI pitches are garbage and favor spin way too much today. As NZ England and Australia show you can produce great batsmen and fast bowlers on flat wickets. 30 is a very good fc average in WI domestic cricket.

I actually think WI pitches are much in the same mould as England pitches that they favour spin too much but obviously are just prepared more poorly.

Nice one Hoopie.

Always a bit disappointing when England choose to bowl first in an ODI. How are we going to get the chance to smash 450?

Are all of Willey, Curran and Bairstow sons of the former cricketers of the same name?

Zac Crawley is the exception in that he is not related to the former player(s) who share his surname (John and his less well known brothers who also played FC cricket, Mark and Peter).
