Would love to see stats cos it feels like he's the unluckiest flipper I've ever seen. Should not take up MTTs when he retires

Was furious when I heard he lost yet another toss with a green top beckoning. Now......DGAF

Lol at his haters too. Feel so vindicated fur supporting him so vehemently 3-5 years ago

Poor decision that was rightly overturned with Burns.

Boring

This is why the toss is so crucial

Its like every day 2 and 3 is amazing for batting and every other day (apart from day 1) is ok

Steve Smith has got to be the luckiest sob Ive ever seen at consistently getting the nut best conditions to bat in almost every test he plays

Of course everytime there is even a little bit of movement of inconsistency he nicks off either outside or in

I mean you still have to score them but jesus hes been lucky

Its a pity that the toss pretty much has decided both these tests

It would be sort of ok if the pitches actually started to break up, but they dont, they play decent till day 5

NZ cricket needs to work on these pitches and try and get them rougher some how

Nothing worse than watching 2 charismaless aussie batters with unpleasant techniques grind through the day on a dead pitch at 2-3 an over

Yawn

Tbf too, our bowlers cant land a ball in the same spot more than 2 times in a row, its frustrating

Its like they **** the bed everytime they play Australia in a test, no patience or they havent fully recovered from injury

These guys have great records against batting line ups almost as good as this aussie team

Southee is short of a gallop and even Boult isnt 100% seeming, pace is still way down on average from before his back issue

Wagner is a journeyman but he tries hard and isnt Mark Craig thank god

Matt Henry is green in tests

Gotta get Ish Sodhi in there and give Tim and Trent a huge rest after this series

Looking at this test match, NZ's bowling stocks are in trouble. If this is the best they have, they really have no chance of winning too many more tests against the big cricketing countries.

I mean Boult and Southee who are considered their best are bowling at Peter Siddle speed which results in them not being much of a threat at all. Boult is dangerous with the new ball but after that he's bowling goes straight to being mundane.

In saying all this, NZ did well to get a couple of wickets from lucky short balls that should have been whacked for two 6s.

It's true NZ have underperformed in these 2 test series v Aus. Losing the toss all the time doesn't help either.

They were a big chance to win this summer but couldn't deliver under pressure and weight of expectation. They should have done better.

I'd hardly call Joe Burns technique unpleasant. One of the better techniques in the game.

I thought it was because we won the toss and the pitches are roads?

See the luck part, it covers both those points

What were you saying about Wagner again abd?

So much for his non-selection in the last 4 test matches.

I just saw a few highlights. fknlol at these fields to Marsh and Voges. Short leg, mid wicket, square leg, backward square leg and deep backward square. Yeah. ok. Nice one.

Yes Neil Wagner-Larwood's bodyline attack was quite lol, but effective

Just another example of BMacs outstandingly aggressive captaincy

A great tactic in the face of a flat pitch and a fine innovative approach to the plight bowlers can face in this day and age

Also Josh Hazlewood you filthy thug, charge the umpire you moron over nothing, obviously enough doubt in the inside edge off Kane to finish reviewing early

I hope his and Smiths match fees get cut, a good example where a yellow card wouldve been warranted

Anyways the toss was lost and thus the test, barring some crazy turn of events

If we bowled first in either test Aus wouldve been out for 150 each time and we win 2 nil

Twas our best chance for a while but the luck didnt fall our way, proud of the lads for fighting hard in the face of tremendous adversity

Im confident the team without Mccullum will continue to shine and do well going forward

I think Jackson Bird deserves more credit for his 5 wicket haul. He has been copping plenty of flack for being called overrated when his shield results this season justify a place in the team.

Hazlewood and Smith fined 15%. So pathetic - if they are deemed to deserve a punishment then at least make it meaningful.

Personally, the fact that they were incorrect with what they were claiming and going off on the wrong person anyway should have made it a much more severe punishment. It's not the worst thing by a long way, but at least players going off on each other is fun. This just looks ugly and stupid.

It's that simple.

In fact I don't know why they even bother playing the match.

Aus are obviously the better team, but man Smith is such a ****. Extending the morning session by 4 overs when they still need 32 to win.

Not unreasonable, and if I was the fielding team I would be more peeved if they didn't extend, and blocked their way to victory over the next 20 overs instead.
