That indoor cricket variant is awesome. I used to play once or twice a week for like 30 weeks of the year. It was slightly different in that scoring was 2 points for each skin and 6 for the win and you had to run for all runs to count, including back net (getting a runout off the back net was a net gain of 12 runs ). We also didn't have the powerball thing, although for a couple of seasons we did have 1 power over each chosen by batting and bowling teams where everything was worth double. Wides/no balls were worth 2 but only rebowled in the last over of the innings, not each skin.

Our team was absurdly inconsistent, to the extent that it was not uncommon for us to comfortably beat some of the strongest teams in the league but we would just as frequently lose to some of the worst teams. It suited my excruciatingly slow leg spin bowling perfectly, I think my best figures were something like 2 overs, 7 wickets for -30.

Yeah, bowling slow, short bouncers are really an effective strategy since you can make catches off the side nets (not the back net).

I generally try to make a mix of full yorkers and the odd shorter ball outside off for the most part, but occasionally accidently drop in the juicy half-volley destined to be smacked over my head for a 7.

Did you play in Australia or elsewhere?

In the UK, Derby specifically. There are only a handful of places across the country that have leagues and I used to live really close to the one Derby. I played indoor a lot more than outdoor.

I think a large part of my success with my leg spin is that I get a lot of top spin as well as side spin, which on the indoor pitches with the softer ball can cause it to bounce to about chest height off pretty much a good length. In probably close to 100 games I'm not sure I ever got a wicket bowled on a single bounce lol.

The times I would go for runs would be against the odd very good batter who was capable of charging and actually getting to the pitch properly and the experienced indoor players who would just get on top of the bounce and hit the side nets every ball. People who were decent outdoor players but thought they were a bit good for the indoor version were the people I tended to get out most.

SA all out 224

NZ 14/1 and any ball could be the next wicket.
Really good pressure from SA.

Right now I'd have NZ to get 150ish

NZ make it to lunch at 40/1

Still feel one wicket could bring them all.

Current odds;
NZ 2/1
SA Evens
Draw 5/1

Wow, Aussies 123/4 not even halfway through. I can't see them making 200 here, they're going to need some sick bowling to rescue this.

Aussie can still make ~240.

I still dont see them winning this.

This should be a good chase now.

Also Mark Nicholas must think he's Australian.

SL chasing 232 and making a mess of it.

57/4 11 overs. All big wickets gone.

Meanwhile in NZ

NZ 243/9 and lead by 5

So Dravid to retire then?

Really hope Sky sign him up.

Updated odds, with NZ leading by 5, but probably not much more

This is so close at the moment.

It's great watching a few hours of cricket from NZ, going to sleep and then watching a few from Aus.

They needed Tharanga to stay just a little longer.

Can't see these two hitting boundaries.
