random 1st team Big12 thought: big men have to be Morris + Udoh right? Cannot fathom Aldrich getting the nod the way he's playing lately. I'm sure Collins/James will be on there b/c they haven't played poorly enough to lose their preseason spot and I guess the 5th goes to Anderson. Shame that out of Pullen/Sloan/Dunn/Carter/Burks/Clemente 4 of them will get left of 1st/2nd team honors. Hell I'm probably forgetting someone, Mason-Griffin maybe?

Yep, Texas has a lot of talent. Barnes seems to be doing a particularly poor job of coaching this team.

I don't see Cole getting left off. He's #2 in blocks and #3 in boards in conference. Maybe his 11.6 ppg could hold him back.

except you're doing exactly what voters do and not realizing Udoh is better in him in all those categories and also FG%

a lot depends on if you say a team consists of 5-4-3-2-1 or 2g/2f/1c of 3f/2g

that's why it's interesting, if you take 2 of those 3, plus James/Anderson, then you only have 1 spot for a guard and that's going to go to Collins although I don't think he's playing all that great.

I'm gonna go ahead and argue that Cole is opening up a lot of opportunities for Marcus and he's capitalizing on them. I still like Cole on the first team along with Collins from KU.

He said in-conference, Udoh is not better in either category you mention. Nor is Udoh even close to ahead in FG% (50.7% to 41.3%).

If you were talking season-long then Udoh is better in blocks and rebounds (both are pretty close), but behind in FG% and wayyy behind in points per shot. Both Cole and Marcus have been much more efficient scorers especially in conference season.

I definitely think Udoh should be in the discussion, I'm just not sure where you're getting your numbers.

I think Turg has a good shot if he can make the top 3 of the final standings.

On the other hand, KU has a pretty decent chance of winning out (around 1 in 3) which would have them winning the Big 12 by at least 4 full games. I can't fathom Self not getting it in that scenario.

KSU is new #2 imo. Also Baylor and MU will probably win an ncaa tourney game. Texas is still capable of turning it around. A&M is probably a tourney team. Big 12 getting underrated as usual.

I have a feeling the committee is only going to put 6 Big12 teams in leaving OkieLite, OU, and Tech all on the outside looking in. Colorado/Nebraska/ISU will all need to win the Big12 tourney.

The key to 7 teams is OkieLite, if they can right the ship they do have some solid RPI wins @KSU, vs A&M and they still get Kansas and Baylor at home as well as Texas and A&M on the road. They get 2 of those 4 while taking care of business at home vs. OU/Nebraska and that puts them at 20-10 (8-8) which should get them in.

I got to think any 20-win Big12 team with at least a .500 conference record is a lock.

Wow....Nebraska was beyond painful in the final minute of their game against Baylor.....anybody else see it? Sadler is not the guy for NU unfortunately.

found myself fistpumping when NU hit that 3 to go up 55-52, really not a fan of Baylor or anyone associated with that University/Town/Coaching Staff/etc...

Sadler is the guy, he was out of time outs b/c a player slipped while going for a loose ball with 75sec left. If he keeps his feet and lays it in you're in this thread talking about what a big win that was for the program.

No, I'm definitely not. I don't follow NU basketball at all. I couldn't care less if they went 0-16 or 16-0. I only watched the game because (1) it was close (2) it was important for BU and (3) the Duke-UNC game was decided.

I believe in Doc Sadler's X's and O's but being a successful coach is about a lot more than that if you're in a Big 6 conference. I read these excuses after every loss from Doc and the players and wonder when enough is enough. They're stupid, inexcusable mistakes and after 4+ years these problems should be behind them. Sadler hasn't accomplished anything significant in his time that Barry Collier didn't accomplish.

Nebraska played a great game until the final minute. His biggest problem is that he doesn't have a go-to guy for the end of games, he has a team of role players.
