Only upside is that they can cut Flacco without any cap hit. Otherwise, don't see how paying him $18.5 million is an asset. Would assume if they just waited, Ravens would have cut him and they could have signed him for much less.

I'm adjusting for inflation and the ridiculous rise in contracts completely overrated players have gotten. Homer Bailey got a 100$ million contract and he had one good year. He was supposedly a phenom but now he's practically done in his late 20s. If you're really good you don't have to wait 8 years, there's this thing called arbitration. NFL qbs are so unlikely to stay relevant. There's like 10 of them who are able to consistently keep a job.

On the opposite end (I just love this story) is Panthers linebacker Shaq Thompson. The Red Sox drafted him in baseball just because he was a great athlete - they thought he could figure it out. He played a bit for themin rookie league and went 0 for 39 with 37 strikeouts.

There’s a ton of other guys that were big recruits in football like Joe Mauer. Delino Deshields was an All American basketball player. Dave Winfield was a Hall of Fame outfielder, drafted by 4 teams in 3 sports, and he could pitch, too.

That's about it...a lot of busts beyond the 1st. Same as with most other positions.
