Mods, please feel free to move if this is in the wrong place.

Was hoping someone could send a link to an article about the development of analytic/software tracking in online poker. I mentioned poker to my daa models & analytics professor and he was very interested in reading more about it. We are doing a lot of discussion on analytic based decisions vs experience/"feel"based decisions and I think the development of the online wizards in poker could be a good talking point.

Any help appreciated. Thanks!

This might be an interesting read: http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/78...-poker-907348/

kinda depends what you want to know. The early histories of PT3 / Holdem Manager are documented in a few threads of this forum, but obviously they are the current generation, not the origins of statistical tracking. There's probably lots of info out there on the net (and stickies in the 2+2 archives) from the times when PokerTracker was new. here's one (not that old tho, older stuff probably in the Limit sections): http://archives1.twoplustwo.com/show...Number=4946669

James Devlin wrote an excellent article on the origins of poker tracking software - http://www.codingthewheel.com/archiv...ker-postgresql. Some of his other articles are great reads if you want to get into the comp sci side of things.

This thread sheds some light on the bad blood between PT3 & HEM http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/32...racker-554851/. The first 20 or so pages of the HEM thread in the commercial software form are also pretty interesting.

Last year, *Split* put together a nice primer on all the key poker stats http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/78...-stats-699669/

_dave_ already linked to my COTW.

This should get you and your professor started.
