Did pompeo going to attend bolsanaro's inauguration posted yet.

Nice to see our sec of state is blatantly also one of those people.

Look, I don't want a damn wall but I've also never seen a statistic on them say that it didn't result in less crossings. That's all I'm pointing out, facts don't make me stupid or get dunked on or whatever.

Yes in an ideal world we'd never have a wall ever but we will never live in one.

Those who benefit greatly from capitalism talk about the trickle down effects even though they would still support capitalism if there was no such effect. And those who are philosophically horrified at the idea of a physical wall argue that it will stop very few illegal immigrants without worrying if that is actually true because it isn't their reason to be against it.

I could come up with dozens of examples. And I happen to believe, as I have said many times, that such disingenuous arguing can backfire because people on the fence can usually recognize when someone brings up an argument that is not the actual reason he holds that stance.

This reasoning makes sense in a vacuum, but the wall will not stop people on net and torture does more harm than good (provides false information) on net. Find better examples.

I won't say never because that's a long time, but Trump won't live to see more than a tiny fraction of the border walled and hopefully the next admin will tear down whatever gets built.

It's ****ing sad this forum refuses to see the obvious like this sometimes.

That is **** right wingers online do all the time when I expect better from the rest of you but most of you just wanna sit there and mock and belittle others like they do.

Really, that's my problem, I expect better, lol I've been around this forum way too long I should know better.

LOL **** your centrist bull****. I mean, I guess if we stop all immigration that allows for overstays AND put up a wall like Israel it may help our influx of fruit and vegetable workers.

So, in the context of a caravan of criminals I suppose the wall seems like a good argument. That means conceding that these people aren't seeking asylum, are in fact rapists and criminals, and we ignore the fact immigrants whether legal or illegal commit less crime than us. Again, **** that ****.

If Trump wasn't an idiot he would have demanded the wall right when he was elected with both houses. This would have forced the democratic senators to be the obstructionists and he could have claimed a mandate from the people.

He has now lost the house very badly and his republican senate already passed the spending bill.

Which makes him clearly a crying toddler demanding to eat ice cream for dinner.

If this goes more than a week or two, it will be time to start walking out of schools, closing roads, boycotting shopping malls etc. Just shut down the whole economy until the senate overrides Trump's veto.

Otherwise, we don't have a democratic system. The republicans will have to be given something every time a spending bill is passed.

Maybe, but I think the more likely explanation is that he was never actually there. I know everyone is in Trump world has been caught lying a million times but Cohen's denials on this have seemed a little different to me - more consistent, forceful, and direct.

My guess is he went somewhere else and Steele's / McClatchy's sources are getting the exact details wrong. But I dunno, something is off with this story.

since you're so interested in facts, i suggest checking out how the majority of illegal immigrants get into america in the first place (hint: it isn't via illegal southern border crossing)

People who actually work during the shutdown will get back pay. Many "non-essential" employees are basically getting unpaid time off.

And not all of them will get back pay; many are sent home with no hours right now rather than working for delayed pay

The contractors who mop floors and work in cafeterias get screwed over the hardest. The bigshot SES guys all get taken care of, though.

In every prior shutdown, all employees have received back pay. Of course there is no guarantee it happens this time, but Dems will most certainly put it in their House bill and my bet is R's in Senate won't strip it out (in fact Senate already passed a bill by unanimous consent which would have guaranteed back pay to all federal employees). It's also possible Trump refuses to sign a bill with back pay, but if he gets his wall, I doubt he cares about back pay, and if he ends up capitulating on wall, seems doubtful he'd keep shutdown going over back pay.

Show proof that workers sent home as nonessential or as federal contractors got paid for hours they didn’t work during the last shutdown
