The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns. The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: No smocking guns.

I know this game has lost all meaning. But let's imagine, just for a second, that Obama called the White House a dump. There would be rioting in the streets and torches and pitchforks sitting outside the White House gates.

if trump somehow gets impeached he'd wreck the party. he's not the type of guy to take a loss lying down for the sake of those who just betrayed him. he'll be crying "unfair" "no loyalty" "railroaded" etc all the way down and hopefully it'll severely weaken republicans' grip on the deplorable vote

i can't imagine r/thedonald would ever forgive such a betrayal of their idol

Justice Dept. to Take On Affirmative Action in College Admissions

Quote:
The Trump administration is preparing to redirect resources of the Justice Department’s civil rights division toward investigating and suing universities over affirmative action admissions policies deemed to discriminate against white applicants, according to a document obtained by The New York Times.
Oh dear

He was deputy assistant attorney general in the criminal division, where he oversaw the fraud unit and managed the program that targeted illegal foreign bribery.

Yeah I guess that explains why Greenwald only tweeted about Messing and nothing about the transgender ban that day.

Oops!

suzzer you are a total dip**** on any subject involving Glenn Greenwald. He had several more tweets that day on the transgender ban.

I continue to believe that Mueller's got this. I just hope there is someone on the inside who is tasked with tipping him off if Trump is going to start a nuclear war or something. I worry that he will sit on a slam dunk impeachment while collecting evidence of like straight up treason or whatever.
08-01-2017 , 08:54 PM
I definitely think Greenwald is incapable of admitting that the Democrat leadership is better than the Republican because they both do **** be hates. The republicans just do it way more effectively.

Pretty sure Trump is on pace to kill more civilians his first year than Obama did in 8.

Anyway the hypocrisy game grows stale real quick, but he does have a point.

Matt Taibbi predicted the Scaramucci firing a few days before it happened. Best line:

Quote:
Spicer, who for months had effortlessly gulped down Trump administration lies like a vulture guzzling battery acid, resigned in protest at Scaramucci's arrival (an "unusual choice of hills to die on" was the New Yorker's comment).
Now he has a piece titled There Is No Way to Survive the Trump White House. Some quotes:

Quote:
The next White House Director of Communications will already be Trump's fourth – you may have forgotten about Mike Dubke, who served for 85 days from February through the end of May.
Dude, I had forgotten that guy existed. The time dilation is real.

Quote:
Granted the White House Chief of Staff job with sweeping assurances from Trump that he would have full autonomy and control in the White House, Priebus ultimately was reduced – this is according to the latest leaks – to listening at the door of the Oval Office in an attempt to guess who was meeting with the president.
loooooolllll

Conclusion:

Quote:
It's great television, but impossible politics. Trump, if he had any brains at all, would have kept Scaramucci at all costs. "Mooch" would have mesmerized the media with his ribald insanity and dragged the cameras away from Trump's impending indictment/impeachment, perhaps even giving Trump enough time to form a legal defense or an interstellar escape plan.

But even in a crisis, Trump cannot take not being the center of attention. Hiring a mulish Marine four-star general to take charge of the White House sounds like a good idea and will probably draw plaudits from the credential-obsessed corporate press (particularly if Kelly succeeds in convincing Trump to launch a war somewhere). But hiring a military taskmaster to impose message discipline is useless if the new general has no power to keep the loudest mouth of the lot – Trump's own – shut.

Some see in all these maneuverings an effort to purge GOP loyalists like Spicer and Priebus. Others see a Nixonian lunge to hire thugs in a crisis. This to me is all overthinking things. There is no strategy. This White House is just a succession of spasmodic Trump failures, with a growing line of people taking the fall for each of them. You can fall with honor, or without, entertainingly or not. But if you join this White House, fall you will. It's only a matter of time.

The Boy Scouts better hope there are no "tapes" of their conversations before they start leaking to the press!

The fox, wh, seth rich story is pretty crazy. This ed buttkowsky idiot is on CNN flailing about his role in it. They seemingly have him dead to rights in texts, in voicemails, etc, but he's going with the Trump defense... it's still just not true, it was a joke, by the way my accuser is broke... just spitting gibberish.

Watching this too. This will go down as the single worst defence ever attempted on TV. Nobody on earth could watch this and not conclude every word is a lie.

That 10 minutes encapsulates the last two years except the good guys won. It was like an alternate world where truth and justice win and lying racist scum are exposed. It felt like a breath of fresh air.
08-01-2017 , 10:44 PM
I missed this but Cuomo seems solid. Maybe I only see his best of. His focus is intense, he doesn't just throw out a question and meekly accept whatever lame response comes back. He's not rude, but quick and sharp enough to unbalance the bull****ters.

We gotta slow down on all the winning....

The relationship between President Trump and Senate Republicans has deteriorated so sharply in recent days that some are openly defying his directives, bringing long-simmering tensions to a boil as the GOP labors to reorient its stalled legislative agenda.

Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), head of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, announced Tuesday that he would work with his Democratic colleagues to “stabilize and strengthen” the individual insurance market under the Affordable Care Act, which the president has badgered the Senate to keep trying to repeal. Alexander also urged the White House to keep up payments to insurers that help low-income consumers afford plans, which Trump has threatened to cut off.
