Just a reminder that conservatives are pure hypocrites who don't give a **** about plays depicting violence towards presidents

It should be noted that if Trump isn't out of office by then, this is a best case scenario.

After 15 more months of this administration, the government we know and love may no longer exist, and the damage done could be irreparable.

What's the recourse when it's discovered that GOP won enough 2018 elections to stay in power by cheating (like death threats and SO MANY other ways), and nobody is left in government to hold them accountable?

Just something extremely desperate & stupid (like firing Mueller) can happen in a matter of minutes and has devastating implications if left unattended to by a Republican Congress. Firing the special counsel has to be done by the Justice Department or by changing the rules completely. The latter is too obviously a black mark, so having the DOJ do the firing is Trump's most likely action. That move would create a mass exodus of career professionals, first from the Justice Department, then from other areas of the government shortly after. Then Trump has control of who is or is not doing investigations in private and many many other things. Trump opponents in the government will either leave empty seats or be replaced by loyalty pledging yes-men like we saw yesterday at the WH, and all of it completely up to Trump's discretion.

Once AGs, lower courts, grand juries, and independent investigations are taken care of, it's SCOTUS time. Trump has 2/3 of the branches and just needs 1 for full control. He's already got a 5-4 lead there too. Add in any other appointments before the end of next year and it's double game over.

I think we're in a ton of trouble right now. Trump has so much margin for error that his evil aspirations alone may carry him through this.

EDIT: Lower courts may take longer than the SCOTUS for Trump to control.

If I was Trump I'd fire every special counsel until i found one that announces the investigation is closed due to Comey saying Trump's not under investigation on day one. There is no downside.

Sadly agree. Republicans are feckless and dems seem unwilling to organize a resistance.

"A.G. Lynch made law enforcement decisions for political purposes...gave Hillary Clinton a free pass and protection. Totally illegal!"

Totally fine to ask the director of the FBI to let an investigation go, of course.

[QUOTE=eyebooger;52375881]More official statements!

What are the chances these tweets are a calculated attempt to make sure his travel ban never gets through so he'll be able to blame judges if/when a terrorist attack hits the US? Even Trump can't be stupid enough to keep throwing up tweets that are sure to be used against what he says he wants passed?

Trump sure seems sandy after his wife moved in with him. Will she be able to get him to stop binge watching cable news and sucking down KFC and bags of candy?

She's probably keeping him topped up with junk food in the hope that he has a heart attack.

Nonsense. What about this picture indicates anything other than the obvious bliss these people are feeling?

Given that he places blame on everybody but Donald Trump 100% of the time is reason not to take any of his accusations seriously. Obviously, and as it is with getting by in life, the more outlandish the claim, the more evidence we need supporting it.

A fully overblown outlandish claim, without a shred of evidence, and calling for investigation and imprisonment of the "accused" political enemy of the POTUS is heavily opposed EVEN IN RUSSIA. The fact that Donald Trump is and has been doing it in the US is a MASSIVE ABUSE OF Power that must be addressed while we still can.

The concept is similar for other Trumpisms that are 100% locks to happen like Trump not ever admitting to mistakes, or Trump not being able to hold Putin accountable for anything, or defense of Mike Flynn all the way up to the point of a Presidential Pardon. Calling every attack not committed by white nationalists "Terrorism", and scaring the public to death over it, is another example.

This level of secrecy isn't precidented in American history and serves zero purpose to the public and CANNOT be taken seriously because it's 'not even wrong'. How do we drive it home to the Republican base and get them to stop falling for Trump's CON JOBS JOBS JOBS??

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is asking congressional leaders to undo federal medical marijuana protections that have been in place since 2014, according to a May letter that became public Monday.

The protections, known as the Rohrabacher-Farr amendment, prohibit the Justice Department from using federal funds to prevent certain states "from implementing their own State laws that authorize the use, distribution, possession or cultivation of medical marijuana."

In his letter, first obtained by Tom Angell of Massroots.com and verified independently by The Washington Post, Sessions argued that the amendment would "inhibit [the Justice Department's] authority to enforce the Controlled Substances Act." He continues:
Quote:
I believe it would be unwise for Congress to restrict the discretion of the Department to fund particular prosecutions, particularly in the midst of an historic drug epidemic and potentially long-term uptick in violent crime. The Department must be in a position to use all laws available to combat the transnational drug organizations and dangerous drug traffickers who threaten American lives.

Marc Kasowitz, President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer in the Russia investigation, has boasted to friends and colleagues that he played a central role in the firing of Preet Bharara, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, according to four people familiar with the conversations.

Kasowitz told Trump, “This guy is going to get you,” according to a person familiar with Kasowitz’s account.

Those who know Kasowitz say he is sometimes prone to exaggerating when regaling them with his exploits. But if true, his assertion adds to the mystery surrounding the motive and timing of Bharara’s firing.

Although I must admit it is kind of strange to see so many people on Team Preet who hated him when he took their POKERZ away a few years ago

What could Bharara ever have gotten ol' Donnie for?

Out of all the Pod Save America guys, Faverau annoys me the most because he seems constantly surprised by the cynical maneuvering of the right.

Lovett carries those guys. I can find sincere liberals wringing their hands about incivility and suboptimal policy anywhere. They are fine and solid, but not stand out talents. Hell, the podcast is almost worth it just for Lovett's ad libs during the commercials.
