I guess you two recommend that Impact Sport unit? A few friends have complained about electronic hearing protection (I forget the exact make/model), saying they simply aren't as good as passive protection.

I just use some plastic earplugs with a cord through them so they stay together. I forget the brand. I got them at Cabelas, but don't see them on their website.

I use them personally.

They don't have the db reduction of passive earphones, no. I think mine are rated at about -18db or something.

To me they're better because I can hear and converse while wearing them, so it really depends on the usage. They're fine for handguns and AR's to me personally. I probably wouldn't choose them were I going out to fire a Barrett 50 BMG or something.

It may be stupid, but I wanted it. I got my Del-Ton for about $800; today they go for >$2,000. Near as I can figure I'm still ahead of the game, only now I'm ahead of the game with a pointless, bolt action, bayonet'ed, long ass rifle =p

And in other news...

A large opposition to the NY SAFE Act has been building and is about to crash on Cuomo's head. Of the 57 counties of NYS, 23 have passed resolutions condemning the Act with 18 more having resolutions pending.

It's nice to FINALLY see people come together and stand up for what's right. I should sell my 2 scary guns now so I can buy 4-6 more in a year

zomg resolutions! whatever will Cuomo do?!

If the volume is too loud, I'd recommend keeping what you've got and buying those foam earplugs from Wal-Mart to go with them.
I have the same ones. And +1 on the foam addon is you have pussy girly ears.

Confirm/deny?
Better than a sharp stick but yes range ammo is poorly suited to self defense. No expansion and less velocity.

I shot sporting clays today

had fun though.

Awesome!

It's fun to discover new sports within the firearms community.

Nothing wrong with buying what you want. I'm actually a huge fan of the Mosin Nagant. I'd hardly call it a pointless rifle though. A bit obscure maybe, but you got a bolt action that is super accurate with just irons. I wouldn't expect your rifle to appreciate in the same way as your Del-Ton (assuming you're talking about an AR here), they made 50 million Mosins and they are in no danger of being "banned" in any way.

Be careful.

One thing about that is you can sink a ton of cash in a hurry when you decide to go the route of purchasing your very own purpose built O/U.

Turkey shoots are fun imo. Go if you see one in your area.
02-24-2013 , 09:39 PM
I prefer turkey hunting to turkey shoots.
02-24-2013 , 09:43 PM
I like white meat tho.

NeBlis likes Hispanics.

I prefer redheads.

My roommate has a mosin Nagant from ww2, lots of fun the bullets it shoots are huge (don't know exact caliber) turned lots of heads down and the gun range we were at

I wanted to go shoot my pistol today but I was too high and had to take a weed nap, and I don't want to spend all my money imo.

They are long, old, and accurate. Kick pretty good too. Definitely not something I'd take to the range, but to each their own. I love them, but then again I love all of the old commie guns. I'd love an M38 Carbine.

I just leave this here. Hopefully it hasn't been posted here before.
