$10k is an insultingly low offer.

I'm told that liberals would be willing to relocate to Wyoming in DROVES for 1/4 that sum so this actually sounds like a good deal.

Do you have to be on-site to be a remote working resident?

I'm actually mildly compelled by the Tulsa thing. Thinking about relocating to SoCal to get involved with this, as well. Not sure if I can make the qualifying time commitment but I am going to get more info.

I'm saying the amount of heat she is getting from both sides seems way out of proportion. I hope she ushers in a new wave of truly progressive democrats and gets lot of **** done, but maybe, just maybe we should wait and give her a chance to actually do something before we crown her the WOAT or GOAT?

Dunking on idiots on twitter is definitely a good sign and an AOC bot thread would make it easier to follow...

AOC has already gotten 10x the heat Bernie ever got from Fox News and she just got here

AOC content dump

I could add AOC to THE BOT in a separate thread if people think that would be useful, obv she's not as important of a political figure as the president but maybe having the bot post things that aren't successive instances of the dumbest thoughts to ever hit Twitter would be a positive force in Politardia

Certainly think the left is reading a bit too much into the AOC phoenomenon. Let’s not loose sight of the fact that she’s just a freshman rep from a deep blue district and who’s opponent was so craven that he didn’t bother showing up to debates. I’m all on board the AOC train, but let’s not draw too many broad conclusions from her successes.

That Shirley Chisolm portrait is pretty damn impressive. Put her on a coin or something.

Obama ran on closing Guantanamo. I don't doubt that she will do her best to deliver on her agenda but this:

2+2 progressives just love to fall in love with charismatic newcomers. It doesn't have to be love on first sight. Let's wait how the first few dates go before proposing.

Its not just the 2p2 nerds. It’s sort of a bug of our modern system that anyone with actual experience and an actual voting record is going to be tainted in some way and have at least tiny blemishes in their record. There’s days having experience is a millstone around your neck and we’re seeing guys with short political resumes like Trump, Obama, AOC, Ojeda, etc springboard into national prominence. Basically everyone wants a magical outsider who hasn’t ****ed up yet.

She's just so much better at responding to trolls than olds or most of the 2p2 Politics forum. Your standard boomer-age Dem would be releasing tax returns to show she was poor and posting pics of the receipts for her clothes to show how little she spent, all with a link to a site where you could look up lies people told about her.

I'm picturing AOC as a hot ball of progressive fire right now, ping-ponging around singeing greyhairs, let me have that for a bit

This can not be emphasized enough. There's a lot to like about AOC, but this is the #1 thing I wish more Democrats would figure out.

Has Grassley tried to give her a Werther's Original yet?

Given kerowo's post, that's a terrible analogy. Obama issued an executive order on day two of his presidency to close Guantanamo! He tried! It's not like he got into office and said "eh, let's keep it open", which is essentially what kerowo is telling us to beware of here.

If Ocasio doesn't deliver M4A passed in Congress by 2020 we're not gonna be like "wow, what a fraud, guess we were wrong about her", which is what a Guantanamo analogy would imply.

It's important to keep pointing out that AOC hasn't accomplished much as a congressmember yet because a lot of the people posting about her probably don't realize this.

It's almost like people are excited about what her getting elected to Congress can represent for the future, and aren't basing things off her House voting history.

That was a pretty half-assed effort. He doesn't get points for trying.

Among other solutions, he could have ordered the DOJ to put each and every detainee on trial. He didn't even though that's clearly the right thing to do. He wasn't interested in spending political on this.

AOC is one member of congress. Of course, nobody is expecting her to deliver M4A or to be considered a fraud. The point is that politicians don't always govern in the way they campaign. It's not a radical idea to wait how close their voting record and advocacy matches their rethoric before hailing them as democratic front runners for the presidency.
