If you read the article you'd know the NRA donated almost $11k to them.

I read it, they give nearly 2.2 million per year nationwide to support the JR ROTC.

GF and I spotted this while strolling through downtown this weekend

I really hope someone uses one of the free guns to come back and rob the jewelry store.

The NRA is a bit of a red herring. Yes they donate money and yes that money influences people, but they don't donate a lot or at least not near as much as other industries and that's because they don't have to. They have a grassroots network of people who will flip their sh*t at the mere mention of anything about guns. Other industries don't have that so they have to make that up with lots of cash. The NRA is just there to stoke the flames as it were. They didn't invent the racial and anti liberal paranoia that started in the 60s and 70s as a reaction against the Civil Rights Act, left wing radicalism, and the race riots, they just took advantage of it. Just like Fox News didn't turn your grandma racist, she was already latently racist to begin with.

The opposition doesn't have that grassroots network in spite of just as much energy on the gun control side. What gun control needs is more people as ravenous as gun nuts, people who will freak out and call people who don't put gun control on the table nuts and psychopaths, who are unafraid to say they want to repeal the Second Amendment and don't give a sh*t if you care, because that's what it's going to take.

It's not a red herring, by virtue of them mobilizing the amount of single-issue voters that they do.

The failure to ban late-term abortion is one of those central things we rarely talk about.

And I'll tell you what I think a teenager absorbs about it,
Unconsciously, in America. He sees a headline online, he passes a television in an airport, he hears the quick story and thinks: "If the baby we don't let live is unimportant, then I guess I am unimportant. And you're unimportant too

She certainly isn't thinking that a women's life is important if she listens to the Republican platform.

We could always hire Dow Chemical to dump a bunch of **** in the woods...would probably be very effective in killing everything in the woods.

We have reached Peak Peggy. I didn't think she could top "Romney will win because I saw some yard signs," but here we are.

I love that these kids are doing this, but the messaging is wrong. They are trying to lecture adults, but republican adults hate to be lectured or told that they are wrong. The message should be to other young people and it should be that they need to vote and vote democrat and make sure all their friends are voting and voting democrat.

The message should be that the GOP is evil, that old people are idiots and racists who are tricked by Russian tolls while they mass consume social media.

The end game to winning is getting three houses and removing the filibuster.

The Republicans win the yard sign and bumper sticker battle because liberals are afraid that they will be shot. Seriously.

Might be a contender for WOAT post. “We need to hunt deer to help insurance companies and avoid car crashes.” K dude

Fair points. Hopefully they stay engaged and also adopt that message.

Also Republicans: vocal praise / coverage of partial birth abortion is on tv so much that teenagers are seeing it on random TVs at the airport

It's like AIPAC as opposed to Pharma. The NRA and AIPAC may not have majority support all the time, but when they don't it's close. They can mobilize a fair amount of people cheap and they have a large receptive audience. Pharma represents a small interest that is at odds with most people and they spend hundreds of millions lobbying as opposed to a few.

Just like it's reassuring to hear responsible gun owners say they'd shoot someone if they tried to take their gun-tool away. Really gives me confidence in their mental stability.

I think they're better off not being overtly partisan. They have an issue they can make a difference on if they stay focused. Don't give GOP asshats an easy excuse to dismiss them.
