Even if the kids pushed a Dem agenda the GOP couldn't dismiss them. I think people are done with the denial step.

Chiefsplanet runs a poll on whether people would turn in their AR-15 if it's banned. It goes about as you'd expect. http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=313998

Many are demonstrating their freedoms by buying more ARs right now. Take that gun-grabbers!

Similarly, 24 percent of Americans think it’s at least possible that the 2012 school murders in Sandy Hook, CT were faked in order to increase support for gun control.
There's no way these Florida kids are untouchable. The deplorables just need a little time to discover a suitable line of attack.

Cameron Park, CA fire department raffles off AR-15 at crab feed

(this is a small town in a rural Sierra county that voted for Trump 52-38 with under 100k votes cast)

There were like 20 raffles in the news, one of them for little league.

Why couldn't one of these billionaires just buy the company that makes the AR-15 and shut it down?
02-19-2018 , 07:52 PM
Or, let's start a GoFundMe to purchase the company. Surely there would be enough people.

Under the NFA, it is illegal for any private civilian to own any fully automatic weapons manufactured after May 19, 1986. Only certain types of FFL/SOTs may make them, and then only for purchase by qualified state and federal agencies. There are no exceptions. According to the ATF’s official handbook on NFA laws and regulations, it’s not even legal to make new replacement parts for pre-1986 machine guns: “There is no exception allowing for the lawful production, transfer, possession, or use of a post-May 18, 1986 machinegun receiver as a replacement receiver on a weapon produced prior to May 19, 1986.”

AR-15 is a shooting platform, it's a type or style of rifle. There might be 100's of companies manufacturing them.

You're understating how much they donate. They spent 25 million on Congressional races in 2016 (I've seen this number obscured by dumbass media outlets only reporting direct contributions). That's not Koch money, but it's still nothing to sneeze at, somewhere around 4% of all money backing Republicans that cycle. The rest of what you say is right, but whether Emma Gonzalez et al understand the full nuance of the issue doesn't matter to me, because their political argument (Republicans are bribed by the NRA, ergo no gun laws) is true enough and a winner.

I was kind of curious what the numbers would look like if you were to hire security at every public school in the country and fund it with an annual ownership tax per gun. Roughly 100k public schools and 300M guns in the u.s. Not sure what the average budget would be but at $500K per school per year it works out to about $165 per gun. Not advocating this as I think having to post armed guards in schools just so men can have their toys is horrible.

Connecticut has been losing a bunch of jobs/businesses lately but I would gladly see an increase in my taxes to have these *******s leave our state.

Also, lol at them. They went through bankruptcy a few years ago when gun sales were through the roof. How can you **** up a business like that in America.

So if you want to stop school shootings it’s not enough just to vent and march. It’s necessary to let people from Red America lead the way, and to show respect to gun owners at all points. There has to be trust and respect first. Then we can strike a compromise on guns as guns, and not some sacred cross in the culture war.

Republicans are gonna call for more good guys with guns in schools and then when Democrats say no, blame the next school shooting on them. Solved.
02-20-2018 , 06:39 AM
What exactly are 1 or 2 underpaid, bored security guards going to do in order to stop the 2 second head-start needed to shoot them first and go about their rampage as planned anyway?
02-20-2018 , 07:16 AM
Republican Congressional legislative strategy sound be:

1. Strengthen background checks significantly focusing on mental health issues.
2. Create a government agency to process background checks. Their focus will be to coordinate information from all levels of government including city, county, state and federal. Promote this new agency to the max.
3. Go ahead and restrict/eliminate sales of AR-15s. Also promote this is a huge step forward.

If the Dems resist, ok, no problem. If they get enough Dem votes all the better.
02-20-2018 , 07:25 AM
lol adios. In his world repubs are pro common sense gun control and the dems are the slappies resisting.
