Unfortunately because the victims appear to be extremely ghetto they will get no real media attention or sympathy. The public's general attitude is that these people deserve whatever's coming to them and ignore the fact that using violent force on a child in a zealous attempt to apprehend a non-violent petty offender in the middle of a public store is hillariously ridiculous.

That's because you're not aware of the realistic probabilities of injury.

A taser is safer than hands on, on par with OC spray (although the effects of OC last ~1.5 hours, vs 10-45sec with taser), certainly safer than an impact weapon.

As I stated, I'm assuming for purposes of this discussion that the cop is telling the truth. Clearly if the 12 yo is telling the truth the cop is in the wrong. There's really no discussion there.

I'm sure the mother and daughter were raising a ruckus, but I think the cop needs to be held accountable for creating such an unnecessary situation.

Accosting a parking violater in the middle of a public store in front of her children sounds like a recipe for something ******ed happening.

I disagree with disciplining the cop if the 12 year old was obstructing the cop and physically assaulting him and he used a taser to stop it.

I'm totally down with disciplining him for being a dumbass and creating an unnecessary situation that creates embarrassment for the department and basically creating this situation for no good reason.

Srsly, the guy should know whats going on. Modern GPS makes tracking commercial vehicles rather simple. Also fuel use should be off as well.
