I'm nearly positive (although not a doctor) that an X-ray is going to show some evidence a Ferrari sat on your foot.

Sure he could be lying, and if he is, he'll get caught. I'm sure NYPD, like almost all employers, has a "Oh, your doctor said you're out 6-8 weeks with a broken foot? Why don't you see OUR doctor, just for the fun of it" policy.
Why would he even bother going to the doctor? If he's bull****ting, then the purpose of the charade is already complete, he doesn't need to go any further with it.

Is there some rule for cops that says if you lie to a civilian you still have to get a doctor to look at it?

Yea pvn, that's how investigations work.

"I hit the guy because he ran over my foot"
"Ran over your foot? With what??"
"A car."
"Have you been checked out?"
"Nah, It's cool now."

Look at 2:00 mark. He is hobbling. Can't tell which foot is bothering him exactly. But when the guy starts driving it looks the likely foot would be his right foot. I don't think he is making it up. Just curious which foot got run over.

I had my foot ran over once, it didn't hurt and I highly doubt an xray would have proved either way if it had happened.
08-06-2012 , 01:40 AM
Could be. I'm just guessing based on this angle in that screencap I snapped.

The camera pans up a few seconds prior to him claiming to be run over, so it's really not too useful to tell.

Standing at the angle he was, the right foot would've been the first foot the driver came too, but in the shot where you can see his feet he stands with the left foot closer to the car than the right.

I have also had my foot run over. This is one reason I question the whole assault thing. It is kind of like stubbing your toe.

You run bad. Also sounds like it got more of your foot.

I know a cop who stepped in a hole chasing a perp. He destroyed his foot. Had to have surgeries repairing it and has been behind a desk.

I have stepped in a hole while jogging.... Nothing happened to my foot...

What happens to you is not a good example of what can and may happen to others.

Mine was basically just the toes. Probably more shoe than foot TBH.

You guys were run over by full size autos right? We're not talking like bicycles or something?

I was run over my a 76 Cadillac Deville, right across the top of my foot.

Yeah, it was a buddy's station wagon in high school. I couldn't tell you the year/make/model though.

I have a dip in my foot right where it curves off the ankle with a zigzag scar on it.

I'd post a pic but the wife's asleep.

Screwing around in high school. I think it was a Chevy citation

I've had my foot run over twice. Wasn't very painful.

Once was accidental at a gas station. The second time was just to show my friends that it didn't hurt.

Had a cop friend of mine that used to do this with OC spray.

He now has eye damage.

My foot is all kinds of ****ed up but I don't think it's related.

Why would there even be an investigation?

Does Wynton read this thread? I'm curious to know whether in NY:

(1) The officer here had any sort of right to attempt a seizure in order to issue a citation

(2) if the answer to (1) is no, then is there any right to resist?

Wynton does federal law fwiw iirc.

Ah, that's right. I remembered he was a criminal attorney in NYC, forgot he was with the feds. Maybe he still knows?

No seizure was attempted. I'm sorry but I just can't go forward arresting every spaced out civilian who wanders in front of your car as you're attempting to leave a parking space with False Imprisonment.

As I've said, the civilized act is to ask the cop to move, if he's blocking your way.

(this has an added bonus of giving you reason to believe you were unlawfully detained.)

I'm sure any statute that allows resistance restricts that resistance to "reasonable".

Using your car as a weapon is typically right up there with a gun. It's considered "That force which a reasonable and prudent person would reasonably believe creates a high likelihood of death or great bodily harm".

Let me guess, the officer jumped in front of a moving car for "safety"
