You don't have to be a self-hating Jew in Israel to support Trump. You can be incredibly nationalistic and short sighted.

Besides the far right seeing him as an ally because of things like that, hiring Gorka and his like, and stopping brown people from coming here. He use to keep a copy on Hitlers speeches under the nightstand, liked to goosestep and brags about his superior German genes.

Playing with fire. Hate crimes against Jews are up in the US and part of the blame for that goes to trump supporters who enable the fanning of those flames.

Yeah, 11 Jews killed in a synagogue not too far from metsandfins by a guy whose theory was that Jews are replacing white people. Good people on both sides.

But, metsandfins has a lot of other posts and I mentioned him specifically because he's just Trumpy. It's not like he thinks the wall is ridiculous, there aren't MS13 no-go zones across the US, NFL players kneeling shouldn't be fired, central park 5 weren't guilty, etc. Trumpkin gonna Trumpkin. If you're thinking that Jews back Trump because of his policies on Israel, then find me an American Jew who isn't generally Trumpy but reluctantly supports Trump.

You are probably right. Its hard to parse out peoples motivation anyway since there are usually more then one.

And that guy wasn't a trump supporter that shot up the synogauge

Regardless we're off topic let's stick to Israel Palestine and we can discuss trump Jews and Israel privately if you'd like

A) Trump is a that-guy supporter.

B) This isn't really off-topic. I don't care *much* about derails, especially in never-ending thread. And nah.

Just anecdotal but I have Evangelical family (huge Trump fans obv) and they definitely believe in the endtimes and have spoken optimistically about the rapture happening in their lifetime.

It's a spectrum, but "believe" is often "I choose to believe" which imo is phony. Not many people live like they really believe that **** the way you and I believe in gravity.

That's fair. They live typical day to day lives and aren't doomsday preppers or anything. It's almost like a daydream-type fantasy for them, like how I can somehow get excited about winning the Powerball when it's over a billion dollars.

I'm less and less convinced of the depth of most people's faith. Many are entirely conscious of just going along with what they've heard weekly all their lives.

What are you talking about? My best guess is that you're trying to say something about how Israel isn't any worse than some monarchies or military dictatorships. Also, I bet you're wrong about what was happening or not happening in the West Bank and Gaza before 67.

To the extent that occupation in the territories and discrimination in Israel created a "people" it's really a much worse reflection on the Israeli state. "Palestinians weren't a people until we treated them badly enough that they became one."

When jordan annexed the West Bank in 1951 he made Hussain made the people Jordanian citizens. And they had seats in the Jordanian government. Some Other countries in the Muslim world didn't recognize the annexation but the "Palestinians " voted in Jordanian elections and considered themselves Jordanians
When israel occupied the territory in 67 and withdrew they, the Jordanian government took away the citizenship. Then israel annexed the territory and then yes the palestenians became a people.

I do want a 2 state solution and agree that Bibi doesn't. Well maybe he does he wants gaza to be the only Palestinian state i suppose

The israeli muslims (citizens) i met this summer love Israel. I get why the Palestinians don't. They've been pawns and mistreated by israel and rejected by Jordan.

A solution where they have rights and citizenship by a legitimate government is what most wanted

Anyone that still believes the silly narrative that Israel just wants peace and that they are the victims in the conflict is either brain washed, fully ******ed, or just really really hates Arabs.
04-07-2019 , 02:52 AM
Israel wants the conflict to keep going so they can quietly keep stealing more and more Arab land... Sick **** that there are still out there trying to justify their illegal land grabbing and theft of palestinian land...

Also, this "a land without a people for a people without land" is full blown racist talk from the 1980's.... 800,000 Arabs were displaced from their land and can't return because they are a "demographic threat" while the Israeli government pays american Jews from New York city to move into the West Bank
