it feels good binking all these longshots. apparently betting against liverpool every week is profitable.

note: all of my bets have been risking 1u. ill think about doing something different next season because i dont think this is standard. what do you guys do?

risk to win 1u (or whatever amount of u.)

i think it makes sense to risk to win the same every time. i'd be happy to hear different opinions tho.

^^^^^

clarifying the above post..

assuming your confidence level is the same, i believe standardizing the "to win" amount is the way to go.

I'm not talking about betting 1u plays, 2u plays, etc, if you believe you are more confident in some than others.

looking for some thoughts from some (primarily vig, he seems to crush) and anyone else who wants to comment on betting man city win at stoke.

the price i got was 8/13, tell me why city win at this price is a profitable/losing bet in your opinon? (try not to result orientated)

Seems like an app. place for this question...
What was the closing line for the WBA Newcastle game today? Moreso, where could I find this in the future so I don't have to make dumb posts such as this?
I have a discrepancy with a friend of mine on the line and he is okay with taking whatever this thread (or the information provided in this thread) says as fact. So, can anyone help?

And, yes, I will make sure to clarify everything in the future so I don't have to waste your time.

football-data.co.uk has csvs with game results and closing lines for the last ~10 years. it looks like they have only updated through 3/21/12 right now so no help on the wba newcastle game. may be someone else knows of another site

Thats bad ass.
I have another question, but I should probably preface it.
I look at sports betting as something fun to do, but also quantifies my obligation of giving action to get action. I am not a pro at it or even a weekly punter, just a few (under 5) bets a month.
Without my philosophy (technically a losing one) in mind, was taking Wigan at 10/1 a good wager? Clearly results oriented here, but I am willing to look at the big picture.

im not sure how your philosophy toward betting really matters. arent decisions +ev or -ev no matter how many you make/month? i picked the wigan match at over 12/1. had it been around 10/1 i probably wouldnt have gone for it although i think it would still have been marginally +ev.

I know betting odds an stuff but what you on about units how all that work?
Football (soccer) betting thread Quote
03-25-2012 , 11:40 PM
A unit can be different to everybody but it's just the amount you bet. Some guys units might be $100, $500, etc. It all depends on your bankroll.

1/2 unit play

Fulham Win @16.27

am i missing something here? the only way i can justify this line is that united are fighting for the title and fulham have essentially nothing left to play for this season

edit: and the lines moving. pinny has it at 17... dont understand why at all
