donger vs bannar HU 4 rollz... 20k hands?

would LOVE to sweat that match.

He's got me covered in the HU side of things but he knows i run better than him so it would make for a pretty epic match. Problem is that we're both the biggest SSNL nits so it's never going to happen lol

i always thought i was crowned the biggest SSNL nit... i was kind of proud of that title. although, in order to have a title, one must play poker right? haha

+1 to this. Thinking, Fast and Slow is a really fascinating book. But the more I think about it, the only real lesson to draw from Kahneman's work is that certain cognitive defects (if that's even the right word) exist and that all we can do is try our best to develop personal heuristics to limit the negative effects of our irrationality. If you do anything that relies heavily on making decisions, then the book is must read imo.

So I finally started playing poker again. Unforunately it's only live poker (fml) at the new poker room that opened in ohio. To get an idea of the typical thought process of a live grinder, I've started reading the 2+2 live poker subforum and it's brutal. Maybe I shouldnt be subjecting myself to such torment, but I find it hard to believe they are really this dumb. Should I take them serious when they post something like this "In no limit you don't price out draws. You bet enough for them to call. Then you need the discipline to not pay them off when they hit." Or is it one giant leveling subforum? That was in response to a 2/5NL hand analysis and I can't believe someone playing that level could be serious with a comment like that. Am I stepping into a time machine to 2006 by playing live?

I'm new to live poker, so if anyone has any tips on how to get acclimated/what to look out for I would really appreciate it. My next session I plan to throw on some headphones so im forced to pay closer attention to the action and villian's mannerisms, but other than that I can't think of other strats to filter out the noise from what's actually important info. plus old geezers wont be able to talk my ear off.

Just do whatever you think is profitable and you'll make money. Usually it means doing weird stuff you'd never do online, but mostly playing standard.

Yeah, you can get away with making ridiculous overbets/underbets depending on the situation.
