My first 2 full days in Vegas I lost 8.5k playing 2/5 and 5/10. I had to take cab rides to bank of america to reload 2 days in a row.





Over the next 3 days I want on a huge rush at 2/5 plo and at one point Saturday evening was unstuck and up around 1k on the trip.

What did you think of the games at the Aria? How many games were going?

I was there in the middle of the sries and there were two 1/3 games, two 2/5 games, 4 5/10 games, and one 100/200. The 2/5 and 5/10 all played with a straddle.

The games were pretty good, but people were telling me the games were even better at the beginning of the series and during the main event.

What are your guys opinions on Live PLO variance? This is going to sound like a pretty n00bish question, which is understandable, but I'm trying to figure my risk of ruin in bigger games.

I have been playing Live PLO for quite some time now, since my city has incredible live private games (I'm talking 1/2 PLO $100-500bi w/ 20k+ on the table at it's peak).

I regularly play in these games, when I am not grinding 100 or 200 zoom.

Bigger games have started to get up lately, which I would consider to be above my BR (as it stands I have about 80bi for 200PLO).

I have found 2 people who would want to take 10%ea of my action @ 2/5 and 5/5 (200-700 and 300-2000), however, that still has me playing about double my usual stake.

I feel that I would play fine at the higher stake, and not be deterred by the increase im game size, however, I obviously don't want to punt off my roll shot taking.

These bigger games are ridiculously good, so they're obviously worth the shot, however the downside of being broke would also be disgusting.

The 2/5 plays pretty big, and the 5/5 is ridiculous (one player recently lost 20k in a day there, std right). I've heard of wins of up to 25-40k in that game (since it often becomes 5/5/10).

If you were a 24yo dude who felt he had an edge in these games, would you go for it?

I thought the games were good. There were never more than 2 5/10 games running when I was there. 2/5 played with a "rock" straddle, 5/10 w/ optional btn straddle. There were a bunch of pretty huge whales--whales like, these guys are playing every hand no matter the preflop action, have quite possibly never played plo before, and hurricane $ off postflop w/ hands it would be too spewy to do so if they were playing holdem. Only played 5/10 two times, the first time it was crazy good, second time it was a very mediocre table.

One guy asked "So what's the deal w/ this game, can I just cash out my chips and leave whenever I want?" He called a raise on T9723 board w/ 2p and when guy turned over the straight he said "Oh man, I didn't even see the straight." Another guy shoveled in his last 700 pre w/ 3359r. Another, 7 way flop at 2/5 ~450 pot, 249cc flop, he bets 400 on btn, other guy c/r shoves for ~1700 more, he calls w/ 4TJK no fd. Unfortunately I didn't win any $ off the terribad players that were playing, probably cumulatively was down significantly to them. Very sick to see player after player donate off thousands and not profit at all from them.

Players like this were fairly common, tho there were a lot of nitfish and spewy regs, and a handful of solid regs. Also, the majority of flops were 5+ way, so not a lot of room to maneuver or bluff postflop. A lot of times I felt more like I was playing the lottery than poker.

If the games are indeed as juicy as you describe, I'd go for it without a stake and split profits massively in my favour if anyone wanted to buy a piece.

good to see nothing has changed from last year. However, it can be so frustrating when playing in a game so juicy and you either go card dead, flop dead or just run absolutely awful. Last years games at aria were super good as well. I remember playing a hand with a french businessman and hes on the phone during the hand talking about the cards he was currently holding and whether or not he should call my bet on the river. I understand a little bit of french and couldn't believe what i was hearing lol. I thought i was value betting my set of 9s and he had a set of Qs and ended up folding. games were incredible just the slowness of Live PLO (15-20 hands per hour), waitlists, paying $20 for chicken fingers wouldn't make me want to play live more than the 1 or two weeks during the wsop. just need a little run good for that short stretch and u could easily win $20k+ in a week or two at the 2-5.

Live PLO is the nuts. The food prices at the Aria were pretty reasonable (except for the room service items), and I never had to wait too long since I always phoned ahead.

Some of the dealers are quite fast at the Aria. I've seen many of them deal 15-20 hands in their half hour.

I wonder how good the coaches of Stars' Protégé promo would performs in today's SSPLO games I think Selbst > Katchalov >>>> ElKY >> Akkari, but I'm not really sure. ElKY, being experienced in HUSnGs, may teach a few tricks for upcoming Spin'n'Goes (a clone of Twister), though.

They had one of the poker tv producers on during the 10k Stud championship at the WSOP and he said both HSP and PAD would be back. He didn't provide a timeline, however.

In other news, I think I'm off to play at MD live today probably in the 5-5 game there.
