That scene in Kill Bill is really hard to watch when she slices the back of Buck's ankle.

Anything involving sharp objects and the possibility of chopping of a finger. So many movies and shows I've seen made me turn away for no reason. It's mostly how they film it. A close up on a knife cutting food, and I'm out. I cut about 1/4" off the tip of my middle finger on my fretting hand when I was younger and it made playing certain things on the guitar really difficult. It's also hard to type sometimes and it looks kinda strange.

Anything involving an eye makes my eyes water and I have to turn away. It goes so far as the Pilot episode of South Park when Cartman says "Scott Baio gave me pink eye" and his eye is drawn in that crappy animation having pink eye actually bothers me.

So during the procedure you just use something to numb your jaw like when you get fillings? Or do they give you something to dope you up a lot? I also don't want to be given something to make me really ****ed up or high.

I had some wisdom teeth out last week. The dentist used that anesthetic gel stuff on my gums, then gave me a couple needles five minutes later which I barely noticed. Didn't feel any pain or get high at all.

I had this done, its totally fine honestly. Once the drugs are in you there is a brief period of the giggles and then you just pass out. You wake up still kinda high.

The Day after the operation you have a massive jawline tho, so pics for OOT are essential...

The gas it completely odorless so you won't realize you're inhaling anything. I was told to count backwards, started counting and the next thing I know I'm waking up.

I disagree. Having my wisdom teeth out was the most painful thing I've experienced. I very much regret not getting put to sleep. I've had a decent amount of teeth pulled and other dental work and was just fine. Nothing compared to what they had to do to get the wisdom teeth.

I'm afraid of not getting put to sleep for surgery. Everyone's wisdom teeth experience is different by the way. Some are nightmares, some come out easy and never cause problems.

It's not the pain I am afraid of..I just don't like the part of getting put to sleep. When I was younger I was minuites away from bleeding to death..had my tonsils out and a few weeks later an artery burst in my throat and I lost almost all my blood..I was sure I was going to die that night and the whole thing traumatized me. So this kind of stuff scares the **** out of me now.

I was really nervous when I got my wisdom teeth out to the point of wanting to skip the surgery lol. I broke my leg this winter and had to have a rod put in. I had a bit of liquor already when it happened so once they gave me the painkiller shot I was good to go and didn't have a care in the world surprisingly. Had the top screw removed a few weeks ago and didn't mind it at all. It's so fast once they give you the anesthetic you just wake up afterward.

It really depends on your situation. Some people have wisdom teeth pulled, some people have to have them surgically cut out of their jaw. In the former, novcaine might work, in the latter, please knock me the **** out.

I've had so many treble hooks flash a millimeter in front of my eye, or snag on some piece of clothing on the backswing of a cast by a beer-drinking uncle. Scary stuff indeed.

In all seriousness, I lived for about 10 years in Washington, DC stepping back from every subway platform I ever stood on as the train approached for a similar reason. I wasn't afraid that I'd be pushed in front of the train by a random stranger, however. I was afraid that I'd push a random stranger in front of the train. I'd get this weird tense feeling in my shoulders and I'd have to step away until the front of the train had passed me.

I was more or less horrified by this and didn't tell anyone about it until I took an OCD test that was linked in a thread here on 2+2. Turns out that's it's a somewhat common fear for folks with OCD. I've never been evaluated and would say that at worst, I am a borderline case, but it was reassuring to know that there's some explanation for what I thought was a pretty crazy fear.

Also, to LFS or whoever mentioned the sound of styrofoam and cotton balls, I can't eat those meringue cookies (the ones that are hardened into peaks) for the same reason.

Similar to Buffetts thoughts I'm afraid someone's going to jam my head on a drinking fountain while I'm drinking either smashing my face or several teeth out. I see the metal spout and think something bad might happen.

The bolded part is why buffett should be afraid
