Re: Bee haters:

I got stung mowing the lawn for my mom & dad last year. There was a nest of bees/hornets/whateva living in a burrow in the ground. Enjoy!

Hotels

I can no longer stay in one alone. Wasn't always like this but it got worse. If I played on a professional sports team I'd demand a roommate. haha

Sorry to do a 3-month bump on this thread, but I was just reading about this sort of stuff yesterday. Apparently, this sort of thing happens about two or three times a week in NYC, though it's mostly by suicides.

I have ocd so I have weird fears, like if I don't do something in a certain order something will go terribly wrong. I have safety phobias, like making sure I locked doors and windows again and again.

I know someone who has a butterfly phobia. He saw one once and screamed like a little girl.

I know another guy who has a weird fear of witches, and thinks someone may hex him without him knowing it and ruin his life.

I don't really have unusual fears, but my fears are pretty irrational. Like things in the future that I don't have control of.

Getting very ill on vacation
Getting a bacterial infection and not being able to kill it with antibiotics
Not being able to provide for my kids (of which I have zero currently)
Not being able to get a loan if I ever have bad credit

Weird things like that. Pretty irrational stuff and I wish I could not worry so much. Really I'm afraid of ideas moreso than objects. Like, all the stuff listed in this thread sounds completely crazy to me. Being scared of doorstops and having your head smashed into a fountain? lol.

I'm scared of almost all foods I don't like, but especially things like salad dressing. I get really nervous just touching a closed bottle of the stuff.

I got poison ivy really badly when I was about 20 years old and I've slowly become more and more afraid of plants touching me outside. When I mow the lawn, I get really itchy and have to shower immediately. I wash my arms and hands with soap before getting in the shower. I recently started paying someone to do it instead.

I'm definitely a bit ocd.

edit: almost forgot - I read the linked story and it made me nauseous. Nothing has ever done that to me before.

I had something similar happen once when I donated blood for the Red Cross back in high school. They set me up with the IV thing and then gave me a rubber ball to squeeze. I just absolutely squeezed the **** of the ball because I didn't know any better and I had my whole pint of blood out in like 90 seconds (I think it's supposed to take 15-20 minutes). After that, I felt pretty much as sick as I ever had in my life. Weak, sweaty, lightheaded, nauseous, panicked, etc.

Needles, and I have no clue why. I like blood & pain but something about needles just freaks me out.

I have a weird fear of anything cutting me across the ankle area. I will often wear socks at home even on warm days in anticipation that I might rub up against something that would cause me to cut my ankles. More specifically the inside of my ankles.

I got stung for the first time in my life last year at age 33. I have never really been that afraid of bees but ever since being stung I am even less paranoid over them. I always thought that the sting would hurt more and last longer. The pain was a lot milder than I had expected.

Occasionally when I cook eggs, I'll get an image of eating one raw, except when I crack it open over my mouth there's a baby hatchling inside that's covered in shiny eggstuffs and gets stuck in my throat as it struggles and I choke on it. Pretty sure this is a result of those bird aliens from the second mission in Gantz.

I think my egg consumption has actually decreased lately solely because of this bizarre fear/image I've been harboring.

I'm terrified of this. If I ever have to get my appendix taken out or something I think I'm just going to request a jigger of rum and a leather strap to bite down on.
