dids goes out of his way to not cheer when everyone else is cheering which isn't too bad since it's not as noticeable. It gets kind of weird when he's standing up and going crazy when nobody else is though. People ask him wtf he's doing when he acts like his team just won in the bottom of the 9th when nothing is happening and he responds, "I'm trying not to be 'that guy!'"

I subscribed to Netflix. Spent time figuring out which plan I wanted. Decided on the 2 DVD package for ~$14/month.

Ordered and received my two DVD's before I realized that we don't have a DVD player.

Understand that this isn't in my top 100 of all time, but it's the best I got in August, '09.
Since I'm assuming you have a dvd player on your computer and even if you don't want to use their mailing system much the stream instantly is A++++++ Lost, Heroes, NCIS, Law and Order, Brotherhood. I would pay 5 a month just for the streaming by itself.

Doing this is more appropriate than wearing said items any other time, I would go as far to say. It's like people who bust out their horrid holiday sweaters during that time of year, it's pretty much the only time it's considered socially acceptable.

The foam finger has always been "that guy". Wearing a T-shirt to a band just gives me girl going to an N-sync concert vibes for some reason. I don't think it is equivalent at all to wearing a jersey at a sports game.

my brother came in absolutely smashed off his face and donated all the money in his account (£600) to cancer research UK after seeing one of their adverts on the telly that reduced him to tears.

I never, ever, ever, made this assumption. When I posted this, I knew fully well that people don't agree with me. I don't ever really expect OOT to agree with me when I make knowingly absurd statements.

I still think it's gomertastic as hell for you and your wife (which is the key part to me, getting dolled up as a couple) to dress up in a ****ing costume to go to a game.

In terms of something like a Sounders game or a college football game, I have a personal aversion to showing up to a game wearing the same thing as the 20k people around me. I don't think it's stupid to do so, but it's not a choice I'd make.

do you also show up in flip flops and party hats to a funeral, so as not to look like all the other mindless sheep in their suits?

I have a non-life-threatening, stress-related health problem, and am strongly considering walking away from a low six-fig job in the middle of a ****ty economy because of it.

Drank a bottle of wine while playing on Full Tilt and can't put the laptop down to go to the bathroom.

Go to sit down with laptop in hands and sit down funny, hear a snap in my back. Hurts, but kind of drunk so I ignore it and go to bed.

Can't walk the next day, MRI shows contusion and 2 discs sitting on spinal cord, referral to a neurosurgeon and one month of oxycontin follows....

Still walking around house while playing, still unable to put laptop down...

We get to the downtown parking garage and noticed there were cars driving back and forth on Roberto Clemente bridge (usually closed for automobiles on game days and reserved for pedestrian traffic only). GF says, "are you sure the Pirates are playing tonight?" "Of course I'm sure. LDO." Ummm, uh-oh. I don't see anyone walking around with Pirates stuff on either. Check the schedule on my little internet thingee on my cell phone and..... Oops. The Pirates weren't playing that night. My GF laughed hysterically at my ******edness of course and enjoyed calling me an idiot over and over.

In other news: When we went to a couple Penguins hockey games last year I think over 99% of the fans were wearing a jersey or shirt (mostly for the Penguins of course but always a handful for the visiting team or some other random team). I was one of the very small minority that wasn't wearing a jersey. Felt like I was sticking out a little.
