Jesus dude, it's not a fashion show. You go to sporting events to cheer for your team and have a good time, not impress people with your unique clothing choices.

Well dids, that's really superior of you to think that but you are derailing my rather amusing story of going down to the game when they weren't even playing just to try to get in a really lame insult at me for something that isn't even a big deal and that a lot of people do.

Referring to such a person as "that guy" when a lot of fans do that seems like the wrong phrase to use. Wouldn't the lone person NOT doing it (evidently you...as well as me for a couple of the Penguins games I went to) qualify as "that guy" since they are the ones going against the grain?

After a day of drinking in Vegas I found myself at a table in club LAX with some friends where we met a couple of nice asian girls. I had my mind made up that they were prostitutes, which they were not, and treated them as if they were until they went from holding onto my arm to being disgusted with me. Following that I was kicked out for being too drunk, walking on the upholstery, and climbing over barricades. After a short taxi ride I made my way to an ATM where I took out an amount of money, and obliviously walked away before it was dispensed.

Wow. That's pretty awesome in its own way actually. I'm impressed.

You win.

Come on who wears the team's gear to a game you do not want to be That Guy.
What I instantly gather from this is that UW / Wazzu fans are lame.

Hey Dids mr adam d over here how you doing my man? I am very familiar with That Guy jokes and quite frankly you are doing it completely wrong. That Guy is wearing a Bills jersey to a Charger/Raider game. That guy is also always wearing a college baseball cap. These are just several examples. The main thesis of this presentation is That Guy wears obscure items, not the hometown team.

This is over a month ago, but the Pirates story reminded me of it and it's dumb enough that it's worth mentioning.

I went to all three Triple Crown Horse Racing events this year. I'd been planning to do it for about a year prior. About two hours before the post time of the Preakness Stakes, I showed up at Laurel Park only to find out that the Preakness doesn't take place at Laurel Park. It takes place at Pimilico.

Dids,

Wearing a jersey or "sports gear" to a game has nothing to do with being "that guy". In fact, it's pretty standard. Not douchey in the slightest either. I kind of wonder why the hell you would pick that particular thing out of MicroBob's post as well. Did you have a bad experience at a sporting event or something?

WSU sucks. Of course he had a bad experience.

Based on his posts, I think that Dids has managed to have a bad experience at everything at least once in his life.

Awesome.

Last month, several of us went to a restaurant, got drunk, and I payed a 4 way tab on my credit card (They gave me cash to cover). The next morning, hungover, I felt terrible that I hadn't tipped the waitress, so for lunch I went BACK down there specifically to give the chick a twenty.

Playing golf that afternoon, I found the prior night's receipt in my wallet which clearly showed a 20% tip.

When we were in Lisbon my friend went to an ATM late night. There was someone already at it, and they were standing there for a while fidgeting with the machine. My friend thought the guy was just drunk, and then he suddenly hit the machine in frustration and more or less ran away quickly. My friend walks up to it and all of a sudden out pops 500 euros, which was like 700 bucks at this point. My friend then realized the guy was trying to withdraw money with a stolen card, which is probably the case, who withdraws the max amount at like 3am in the morning? Kept the money obviously and didn't tell anyone till like a month later.

Obv college sports don't count here. Otherwise, yes, I personally think it's a bit lame to wear gear (hats obv excluded) with the team on it to a game. This applies double if you're doing it as a group/couple. This is in part because I'm a bit nitty about having some individuality in my appearance.

If this is true, I guess it's natural selection. The clap does major damage to reproductive organs if not treated.

1) Your parents are out of town and ask you to pick up their car at the shop. Do you use the free courtesy limo provided by the dealership to pick you up, do you let your cousin come pick you up, or do you decide that you'd rather take a nice 6-7 mile bike ride down to the dealership, even though it's been three or four years since you last rode a bike that kind of distance?

2) You go to their garage and find that the two bikes that are your size either have no air in the tires or have a bent rim, and you can't find a pump. However, there is a bike that you used to use when you were 12 that has plenty of air in the tires. Do you decide to scrap the bike plan and use the free limo, or decide that a bike made for someone half your age and half your size will still work since it's not that far away?

3) You realize you are wearing sandals, probably not the best choice of footwear for a bike ride. Do you change into sneakers, or say **** it, I'm not in the Tour de France, sandals will be fine for a nice easy ride?

4) You get about a mile into the ride when you decide to stand and pedal hard through an intersection. Since this bike is at least 10 years old and designed for someone half your size, predictably the chain slips off, causing your poor choice of footwear to slip completely off the pedal and scrape the back of the your calf hard against the pedal, causing a pretty nasty scrape and a torn sandal strap. Do you turn around, go home, bandage it up and call for that free limo, or continue on the final five or six miles?

5) You are now more than half way there. Your knees and hamstrings are killing you because you are way too big for this bike. There are no decisions to be made here since you are completely ****ed, and all you can do is continue on at about five miles per hour cursing your own stupidity.

If you choose the last choice every time, congrats, you have made it! Your reward is to be able to wander into a fairly nice Cadillac dealership on a shoeless, bloody leg to pick up a car that isn't even yours. Good times this morning.

I'm not really sure what you're trying to suggest.

It's not like I'm saying I dress like some freak- but I make it a point not to look too much like the people around me if I can help it.

Haha, that story made me laugh, not least because I read the first instance of "car" as "cat" and kept wondering wtf is going on and having the mental image of someone riding an undersized bike with a cat in the cat box hanging on the side.

Yeah wtf is this crap. Dids, you've just never been a fan of a sports team in your life have you? For an extreme example, go see a soccer game in a country where it matters (hell even your Seattle team might work for this) and tell me how awkward it feels to not be wearing the team colors.
