The raisins for the bread are free! They might not really be raisins, but they're free!

Kroger/QFC steak sandwich, onion, pepper, cheddar, whiz

With Montreal seasoning and Johnny's salt

These are super easy to make and as good as takeout. Slice onions and pepp, cook for a couple. Set aside, cook meat, season, when almost done add back the onion and pepp, add cheese and fold it in

Did you use this shaved steak from them? I like what your working with but I’d want some form of gooey cheese.

I rip through those things. Great for fried rice, egg scrambles, nachos. You name it.

Yup, exactly, that container, $7.99 retail in Seattle. Good for four or so decent sized portion

I put in a good dollop of whiz and about a 1" block of cheddar. It's all mixed in instead of squirted on the top, hence lack of visual cheese

Still good cold as well

I portion the shaved beef out and freeze; you can cook from frozen, it's super easy

we also use that meat on the reg for similar sandwiches. def. needs ample seasoning to help it along.

Before the QFC steak, I used Gary's quik steaks.

They are frozen and a bit fattier, but only available at WinCo. Safeway used to sell Gary's but no more

The sandwich leftovers reheated like a champ in the air fryer. Wrap in aluminum foil and roast at 390 for 5 minutes or so

Wish I had some horsey sauce but this beaver cream horseradish will have to do!

Trader Joe's baguettes are legit decent and $2 each. I cut mine into batons, wrap and freeze

What kind of seasoning are you using when you make the sammy?

I usually use the kroger deli's rare roast beef, but I will need to try this next.

Loved when I first read last year that Chicago Dogs are a seasonal food, because the tomato is a critical component

Anybody got a lead on best sandwiches in San Francisco? Focused on tacos/burritos last time I was here but have since heard that there's lots of great sandwiches to be had as well.

No personal experience, but my son is my go-to sandwich expert (apologies to folks here) and has spent a good bit of time in SF the past several years. He strongly recommends Turner's Kitchen. He says they have really good sandwiches and burgers.

Back home in Western NY, visiting family and seeing the sights. Went to Buffalo and saw a midweek minor league day game, really underrated experience. Perfect weather fun atmosphere. If you’re ever in Buffalo please don’t sleep on the fried bologna. I had one at the ballpark with sautéed onions, peppers and cheese. If you like a nitrate filled ballpark hotdog then you’ll love this, really blows most hot dogs away.

Also in the mascot race of beef on weck vs chicken wing vs carrot vs blue cheese of course beef on weck won.

Definitely get a Beef On Weck. Charlie The Butcher, and Schwabl’s are probably the three most well known. Schwabl’s is a little out of town but I love the old school vibe of the place, I highly recommend it. ]

If you're worried about getting snowed out there c'mon down to Texas. Perfect weather for eclipse viewing in April.

Curse you! I hadn't even thought of doing that.

I'm a far pickier eater than my son, but there are at least a few I'd like to try. Now would be a good time.
