Yes, as opposed to a standalone clock which is what was originally mentioned.

This is 100% correct. It took me almost a year driving a truck to figure this out but now, I back in damn near everytime. Once you've done it enough times and you know your vehicles size, it really doesn't take more than a few extra seconds. Plus it is much safer than trying to back out a truck in a parking lot with pedestrians everywhere.

Someone's phone is ringing I read the caller ID, tell them who it was and hand them the phone.

They then look at the phone to see who called.

No it wasn't.

This is the post I made to start the subject.

It sucks that with the amazing technology we have now I'm resetting clocks in my house every few months b/c they can't keep time consistently.

I can set all of them to the same minute and within 3 months at least half of them will be off the others by 3-4 minutes.

What's even worse is I have 2 digital atomic clocks that can't keep the same time. 1 of them works great and will show the same time(accurate) as a couple other clocks but the other atomic clock will be slow by 3-4 minutes.

Yes the ground has been well covered. He meant all clocks, I (and others) assumed he meant stand alone clocks.

Why are you less likely to run over pedestrians when you are backing into a spot than when you are backing out of one?

Because you can see that the spot is clear before you begin the process.

When backing out, by the time you get in your car, someone could have walked into your path outside your field of vision.
If you do it right, your vision is never impeded when backing in. But it is usually impeded by your neighboring vehicles when backing out.

It's not my everyday car, but we have a Chevy Silverado that I drive frequently on weekends. I do not find this to be true.

I absolutely agree with this and this makes me want to start backing into spaces. Also, some parking lots are insane. Narrow aisles, not enough spaces for all of the traffic, etc.

You don't find what to be true? That your vision is impeded by neighboring vehicles when backing out?

I don't find that my vision is impeded so much that I'm more likely to back into a pedestrian.

If your vision is impeded more by even a fraction, the chance of backing into a pedestrian will rise with that. Its impeded by a lot more than a fraction unless you always park next to low cars and have a rather high truck yourself but it doesnt even matter as you stated yourself that your vision is impeded.

How ****ing fast are you guys pulling out that this is even an issue at all? If you are actually looking and not peeling in or out of a spot, I don't understand how it is at all difficult to avoid hitting a pedestrian. The "advantage" seems negligible either way with a safe driver.

It's not their speed. It's the fact that people will walk behind you while you're backing up and not give a ****. Your blind spot in a truck is slightly different. I can't count the # of times that I've had to jam my brakes while just rolling backwards out of a parking spot. People do not care if you're backing out of a spot.

If there is a line of cars behind me I won't back in. Allot of times I'll find a space where no one is behind me so I don't piss anyone off taking the extra time to back in. Really like to find spot where I can pull through and end up facing forward.

Depends on the parking lot, but I generally am able to back in on first shot, with no need to readjust. Even if there is a line, I'll back in, but I won't readjust until the line passes first. I despise backing out of small parking lots

Where do you live where people are indifferent to being run over?

What % of time does the guy behind you follow too close even though your blinker is on, making it so you can't back in and you have to drive and find a new space. I am guessing it has to be at least 1/3, but I may be biased by aggressive east coast drivers.
