No, that's probably pretty accurate. Of course they never consider the possibility that everyone else would be better off with the alternative.

suzzer this is sliiiiiiightly simplistic for 2+2, but I'll allow it for general propaganda purposes.

Naw I'll bring a pocket knife to a gun fight and win then make a thread about it! Pit bulls still don't need to be breeding though and that's what we are talking about here.

I don't doubt 99% of them work out to be nice family dogs or whatever people want to claim might well be true in their isolated experience. It's the less than 1% that keeps ending in death of kids and elderly people that I'm not fond of and would rather not worry about because some idiot didn't contain their dog properly train it etc.

The risk and responsibility of owning a pit is completely negated after the first time he snuggles up to young while watching the newest episode of Pawn Shop Wars. They offer something that no other breed can.

Four dogs were taken away after the attack. Police say two will be euthanized and the other two will be evaluated.

Police did not immediately know the identity of the victim, who is in her 50s. Officers tried to use a fingerprint reader for identification but were unsuccessful because of the extent of her injuries.

Solange McInnis, of National Pit Bull Victim Awareness, said pit bulls and pit bull mixes were responsible for seven of eight fatalities committed by dogs in the United States in 2016 and 22 fatalities in California from 2010 to 2016.

But Becky Holly of Fresno Bully Rescue said breed-specific legislation does not work. She said it “takes all personal responsibility from the owner and puts it on the breed.”

“These people pretty much troll every article ... on the subject” of dog attacks, she said.

“It’s tragic,” she said of Tuesday’s attack.

Holly said it is unfortunate that “backyard breeders” are selling the dogs on Internet websites such as Craigslist and that the animals are not going to responsible owners
Love how they give the bully rescue woman more than equal time to spout complete nonsense.

"It doesn't work" seems to be refuted by the fact that it does seem to work in the places that have breed-specific bans.

Kid mauled by pit bull in the park i used to play football in as a kid.

Quote:
A 2-year-old was "severely, severely injured" Sunday after a dog attack, authorities said today.

Rochester police were called about 8 p.m. to the area of Elton Hills School playground for a report of a child who'd been bit by a pit bull, the report says.

Witnesses told officers the dog, which the owners described as a 7- to 8-year-old male pit bull, clamped down on the boy's face and neck, and "had hold of him for at least five minutes," said Capt. John Sherwin.

They were "beating on the dog, but it wouldn't let go," he said, but the report didn't say if the dog shook the child.

The little boy, his mother and the dog's owners were outside when the boy began to toss rocks into the air, Sherwin said; that's when the dog attacked.

"I looked at the photos (of the victim), and I wish I hadn't," Sherwin said. "He was severely, severely injured. He had significant injuries to his face and neck."

The child was taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Hospital-Saint Marys Campus, then immediately to surgery, the report says. No information on his condition was available this morning.

The dog, which Sherwin estimated weighed about 65 pounds, was taken to Rochester Animal Control Shelter.

No one there was available for comment this morning on what steps will be taken with the animal.

The owners reportedly told police the pit bull doesn't like other dogs, so they carry a muzzle with them when walking him, but it had never been violent toward a human.

Also, there's a guy that biked around the lake the same time as me a couple of times last week with a huge Doberman in tow. I watched as he choked up tight on the collar as the dog tried to take a chunk out of every pedestrian and biker he passed.

Do it's not just pit bulls; there's lots of dogs that make you an ******* to own.

I still don't get how the owners don't want to put those dogs down on the spot, after what they have just witnessed. It's not like when some mother will defend their son who is accused of committing some awful crime. The pit owners watched the horror in person.

Who coughs on their own bed and doesn't expect a mauling?

Quote:
The parents were in bed watching TV with their newborn son and dog Thursday night when the mother coughed. The coughing startled the dog and it unexpectedly bit the baby, Sgt. Tu Nguyen said.

He said the parents pulled the animal off and took their only child to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“At this time, we’re looking at this as nothing more than a tragic incident,” said Nguyen, a member of the child abuse unit.
Nothing more than a tragic accident...*yawn*

The dog will be held in quarantine for 10 days to determine whether it has rabies. It will be up to the owners to decide whether to reclaim the dog.
