every time i turn on golf, people are tryin to make a big show of it and it seems like they're kind of overdoing the excitement factor a bit. i love to play and think it'd be great if the game was more popular, but is there anything i'm missing about it that's different now compared to like 20 years ago, other than longer drives?

Just the all around skill level. Guys are hitting it farther, with more accuracy, and with ridiculous finesse around the greens. I'm only 37, but can't remember a time when there were so many really really good golfers. I can't speak to the state of the game as a whole, but the product on TV is in a really good place right now due to the amount of high level competitors.

Agree, the competition is incredible. These guys come out of college already some-what battle tested, and ready to go. It's funny how the era of K. Bradley, Hunter Mahan, Brandt Scheniker, Dufner, etc is already surpassed by the new guys.
Even with Tiger's problems, and apparent downfall, the game is in great shape.
PS - I haven't given up on Tiger, yet. He'll never be in the same galaxy as before, but still got a few wins left...

This weeks PGA golf tournament 8/20-23.
I will that these 3 golfers against any 3 that you choose

These are not exactly house-hold names, so they should be easily beatable, but hey, I'm just that kind of a giving person…
Lowest combined score of the three added together wins.
If one of our three misses the cut, that team is eliminated and you/me lose.
If one from each team is eliminated, then the bet goes on, adding all 3 scores (yes, including the ones that missed the cut). If one team has more miss the cut than the other team, then they lose…

I'll take up to $200 in bets, paypal, venom or check.
Bets must be in before wed eve at 11:00e
