Works fine with 2p2 app for me.
Might wanna delete/reinstall if you brought it over from a backup.

Same here, 3.2.1. I enjoy seeing their app version creep up. I held off from the 4.0's and now they're all the way up to 5.3.

Is there any way to stop the phone from auto scrolling to the top after sending a text/iMessage? I have a side business that requires a lot of copy/paste texting to a ton of people and if I could get the phone to remember where I last was down my HUGE list of texts it would save me so much time.

Older operating systems on iPhone used to do this. Wondering if it's an option somewhere on the new ones.

I think you can use iMessage on Mac to send messages and texts. Any sort of copy and pasting seems way easier on a laptop.

For some reason I can not longer send texts on my mac, I can only send imessages now.

I don't know if I've changed a setting or it's not automatically updated.

--edit--

There is a setting in the message bit on the phone. Don't know why if you set it once it should just be it, if you update either iOS or OS X.

Looks like they're both turned off.

1) Check with your carrier. Pretty certain they'll have online instructions/procedures to do that.

2) Yes.

Anyone recommend a decent case with a couple card slots on the back for 6s?

Having some trouble with iBooks. It'll work if the phone is in airplane mode but if I try to open the app when with airplane mode turned off or if I turn airplane mode off while the app is running it crashes and goes back to the home screen.

I couldn't find much about this Googling. Was wondering where to start with attempts to troubleshoot.

I have a 6s+. I updated to 9.2.1 in hopes it would fix it but it didn't help at all.

Have you tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling? (Don't know if that is possible with iBooks)

iBooks cannot be uninstalled.

you could try backing up all your data and then do a factory reset and restore.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Still haven't made much headway.

I did a restore with 9.2.1 then updated my phone from the backup. I'm starting to think something is corrupted there and that's the problem.

When I open iBooks I get the little rotating circle icon next the the wifi indicator at the top left of the screen. It'll stay open for a little while -- from 1 to 5 or so seconds -- then the app closes. If I double click the home button the app is still running. I can open it but the same thing happens and it usually closes faster than if I'd just opened it or if I opened it with airplane mode on then turned airplane mode off.

I've noticed I have some .pdf files in Settings in iTunes that I can't sync.

If I check the boxes and click apply or sync nothing happens. I added another .pdf file this evening and it synced just fine. I can't figure out any way to delete the files from that list.

Could there be a problem with iBooks crashing because it's trying to sync bookmarks or some other data from those files and failing?

iBooks crashes on my iPad Air as well. I'm in the process of downloading 9.2.1 for it. Going to try to set it up as a new device instead of restoring the backup since I don't have any critical data on it and see what happens.

OK, so the restore as new fixed the iPad. I seem to have all my contacts and calendar entries. I'm not sure what pictures I had on it before but that seems intact also.

I want to try the same thing with the phone but am reluctant because I have some pictures on it I don't want to lose. I think I have Photos set to back up to iCloud so I should be OK there, right? Would just have to reinstall any apps I want to keep if I do a restore?

I'm going to backup to my PC just in case.

The recent news about Apple's iPhone password security (10 tries and you're done), prompts a question. Is that a security feature that's enabled by default or one that needs to be user enabled?

Erase data has to be user enabled.

OK. What about 10 strikes and you're out. (Is that a default?)

Also, how does the user enable the "erase data" option?

Settings —> Touch ID & Passocode —> Erase Data (toggle)

Erase data is the same as what you're calling ten strikes. The default is disabled; the user must enable it. One funny corollary is that that there's a good chance the San Bernardino phone doesn't have it enabled; my understanding is that there's no way to tell (until you either wipe the data by trying, or don't).

Tried to ask this in a separate thread but it got shut down by a mod so I'll post here instead and see if I can get any advice:

I'm turning to the good people of 2p2 for their opinions on whether I should upgrade my phone now or if I should try and wait for the next iPhone model. Two quick disclaimers:

1. Sorry if there is a better forum to post this in, I searched for "iPhone" and didn't come up with anything so OOT seemed as good as any as it gets good traffic.

2. Please don't tell me how I should get a Samsung or some other brand; I am only interested in an iPhone.

Current situation is I have a fairly raggedy iPhone 5 - my 5S broke about 16 months into my upgrade cycle so I was stuck buying an older model. It has some problems with screen separation (due to previous damage, being held together by my case) but it should last until September or whenever the iPhone 7 is released. I am now eligible for an upgrade so I'm debating whether I should get a current phone (iPhone SE or 6S) or wait until the iPhone 7.

The biggest reason why I'm considering a new phone is that my wife and I are expecting a baby in the very near future and I think it would be nice to have a phone with an upgraded camera for baby pictures - the iPhone 5 takes bad pictures indoors. Also the 5 is feeling increasingly outdated, though this isn't a huge factor for me. I'm leaning towards the SE because of price; not sure the few exclusive features and larger screen on the 6S are worth the added $200 or so; I do some gaming on my phone but probably not enough to justify the cost when I also own an iPad. I also consider spending less something of an insurance policy; I paid basically nothing for my previous phone so I wasn't too upset when it broke and I had to buy a new one. To me I prefer this philosophy to paying a monthly protection cost, though I don't claim to have any particular insight into the cost-benefit of phone insurance. I can afford a more expensive phone if need be, I just don't know that I want to pay it.

My main concern is that the iPhone 7 will be awesome and I'll feel outdated 6 months after my purchase. I could also wait until the 7 comes out and get a 6S then if I'm overly concerned with the cost but neither of those get me a better camera and updated phone now. What do people think? Anything else you need to know to help me make a decision?
