I like the free apps and the main reason is to use BiteSMS which is just a much better texting application. It allows quick reply and compose from the lock screen. I used to jailbreak when iOS 5 was the latest software version, but apple have implemented most of the reasons why I jailbroke to the phone's default settings: sbsettings, improved messaging, infini-folders, hidden unlock, NoNewsIsGoodNews etc... And I can change the look and sound of my phone via zedge, pimpyourscreen without the need to jailbreak.
BitesSMS was great a few years back, now I rarely use text messaging as whatsapp, viber, Skype and other services have meant that I don't need to.
