Since my girlfriend and I got Netflix, I'm pretty sure I've been spending more time there than on anything else on the internet.

Almost done w/ season 1 of Skins and I'm really liking it. In the same vein as Kidulthood and Kidz, if you've seen either of them.

I wish they had Dexter S3+ or Californication S2+ available on WI though... Bugs me that it'll take me at least a week to get through a single season of each of those.

I loved that movie when I was a kid.

Pretty drab for my tastes nowadays tho.

wasn't trying to be a dick, but 30 rock is a ridiculously popular sitcom, especially among readers of this forum

Not sure why you're giving that guy crap for saying he likes 30 Rock.

I've noticed that it was recommended for me before and read the description and never really felt compelled to give it a shot. Then I noticed the fine print under the title on the box cover "In 2041, one son will be president", and it seemed more interesting to me.

Anyways, I ended up watching all 22 episodes straight. I think its safe to say I liked it.

Just finished up last night had been watching for the past couple weeks: agree with the above think it's very solid, and would recommend others to watch (especially if you're a fan of West Wing, or really American history generally).

Cool concept, well executed.

I'm actually really OK with Jack and Bobby only going 1 season. There were a ton of "reveals" in these 22 episodes, and satisfied alot of my questions about the future arcs of the characters.

I also wish they kept up the suspense of which brother became President for at least more than the pilot episode.

Would you recommend skipping the pilot?

Definitely not: too much background / establishing info is in the pilot, as well as the fact that the "mystery of which brother becomes President" is fully resolved in the pilot, so in subsequent episodes the future President is referred to as "President [Name of Brother]", so you don't gain anything by skipping the pilot in that regard.

ya I was perfectly fine with it being one season also. Yes, a couple of little things could have been expanded on, but I like the way it was resolved rather than dragging it out and adding unnecessary plot twists or adding pointless things to the story

How come I go on Xbox Live app and a few movies in my online queue have a note like "Available until January 6, 2011" but when I check my online queue on the internet via my PC, there's no such deadline shown in the remarks column?

FWIW the 30 Rock pilot is the most-watched thing on Instant Watch ever according to FeedFliks

Tried to watch 'American Movie' yesterday. This opinion might be unpopular, but I kinda wanted the guy to fail hard. He owed ********s of money in child support and squandered tons of time and other peoples money on making a deeply crappy movie.

I'm not trying to derail this into a lost discussion or anything. But can someone tell me if it's worth it to get BACK into lost starting at season 4? I watched the first episode and it was meh. But I just wanna know how the damn thing ends.

Ip Man was good and everything but not spectacular. First half was better than the second.

Just stop after season 5 and pretend S6 doesn't exist.

That bad huh? That sucks cause I just want it to end and figure out all this crap lol. Also they're adding shutter island in a week or two (I think that time) to instant watch. I enjoyed it a lot but I'm sure someone in oot hates it

The ending of Lost was pretty hated by all but the biggest apologists. I defended the crap out of the series until about the 3rd to last episode when I realized they were just making it up as they went along, and in the last season just went for a cheap trick on the audience rather than actually having it be thoughtful. S5 was decent, just pretend it ends then, it is much more solid then. If you want a spoiler on the end (not that bad of one):

Spoiler:

The island has a magic butt plug

Reminds me of my first Netflix rentals about five years ago. Had various various scenes in Japanese. No subtitles. Really?! It was a film I had seen before back when I rented videotapes from a regular old store and the subtitles for those scenes were fine on the tape.

I thought maybe they were just bad discs or something but I think it had more to do with Netflix being paranoid on giving "extras" or something. We could watch it with Spanish or French captions though.

I wouldn't call it very good, but it was mildly interesting and sad look into a hard core white trash subculture.

This has been bugging me, not sure where else to ask:

What (indie) movie features the character of a young boy who gets off on feeding fat girls? Or just wants to watch fat girls eat... (Edit--it's City Island)

Also, what is the best way to optimize Netflix streaming, I just got a Sony Blue Ray that plays directly onto my tv and I have a 1080p LG 37" TV. Thanks!

i'm not sure what you mean by optimize. netflix adjusts the quality automatically for your bandwidth, so there's not much to adjust other than setting the blu-ray player to "1080p hdtv" (rather than 4:3 sdtv or whatever) which i'm sure you've already done.

the only thing you can really control is how good your internet connection is. make sure you have a fast enough connection from your ISP (5mbps is the lowest recommended for HD streaming) and make sure your blu-ray player has a strong signal from your wireless router (or use a wired ethernet connection if possible for best quality/reliability). a wireless-G router will be fine if the signal is strong enough, otherwise you can invest in a wireless-n router.
