The economics of Amazon Fresh must be so different in LA than in Seattle. I'm surprised they didn't open in NYC, but I think there are already several entrenched grocery delivery outfits there.
FreshDirect is the main service in NYC, has been around for 10 years. I was in one of the pilot neighborhoods when they first started and they offered something ridiculous like $100 in free groceries the first time you signed up. They sent us these huge notices promising that the drivers were instructed not to take any tips under any circumstances, I remember in huge all-caps "NO TIPPING!" Anyway, we ordered the free groceries but I was all freaked out about the tipping situation. I finally decided to offer the guy 10 bucks, which he took while giving me an uncertain look like I was a NARC or something. It was too much emotional overhead for me and I never used them again.

I could have muted- but I was so annoyed that I closed it to spite them. **** YOU AND YOUR ****TY MUSIC CHOICES YOU CANNOT HAVE MY CLICKS.

It's an important issue, way too many videos of adorable animals have totally unnecessary god awful music beds under them. (and intros, **** intros, 99% of them, in any context, are useless). I made the mistake once myself, and now the best video I have of my kittens and their siblings is tainted with smooth jazz.

The Fresh guys, both brand-new Amazon employees, said ours was their only home delivery stop of the run. They were extremely friendly and happy to answer a nosy reporter's questions, but they really scored points when they turned down a tip. My friend mentioned more than once that the no-tip policy made her much more likely to order again.

I was just at this new upscale restaurant on campus that's run by our Housing and Food Services and as a result can't take tips. I remarked that I don't like that, because in a country with a tipping culture, I really want the ability to ostensibly purchase better service with a show of goodwill. Now the service at this place was great (and the food- Seattle people- go to Cultivate)

I guess it's a bit different from delivery, but I dunno- being that excited about a no-tip policy feels cheap to me.

Face it, ChronoDeath. There can be only one spaceman, and it's the one that went to Hollywood Upstairs Medical College! <thunder> Gwahahahahahaha </thunder>

ime this will rarely end well. When it comes down to price and a delay for this long there are usually hurdles the IT director doesn't want to cross.

Damn, there's a whole thread of those.

The strumpet/crumpet mix up happened because I was trying to copy the line in Dumb and Dumber and I was sure he said "tea and strumpets" but apparently I misremembered it. Anyway, bryce teabagging strumpets wouldn't make sense in the context of the other mspaints in that thread.

It's funny when old people try to fit in with young people by using slang from when they were young.
