Thanks wetleg. Sweet.

Edit- I'm assuming you mean without needing to remove DRM from the files?

Hes like 50 and doesnt know technology. Its the 8gig 3G, I took it for the $150, looks like Ill make a bit off it on ebay. He left all his sons pics and contacts. Its got some pictures of 2 of his girl friends kissing and stuff. I could buy a 3GS and sell my 16 gig 3G and come out ahead, I'll see what the first one goes for.

I can now understand the price that he's asking for more. Still, a pretty good deal for you. The minimum you would typically have to pay for a used version of that phone is $250-$350.

This may sound stupid, but what does DRM exactly mean? I just bought a few seasons of CYE and burned them to a disk.
01-12-2010 , 03:36 PM
Digital rights management. It is a method used to prevent duplication of digital media files. But if you burned them no problem, it is likely that the files didn't have DRM, similar to the music files.

Are you on 3.1.2? Is that a simple thing to setup?

Edit - just saw that USB only works for Windows. Shmeh.

Your mac doesn't have wireless?

I need to send my phone back to get the headphone jack fixed. I know I have to restore, but is it necessary to set up as a new phone in iTunes or can I just restore from a backup?

I tried searching the thread, but didn't find the answer to this.

Is there any way to make different camera rolls on your phone as you go. For example if I went on vacation is there a way I could make a new "roll" and lable it Vegas Trip or whatever and have all the pictures taken go into that folder? Or even just move them myself without having to go onto a computer?

Also... Everyone who regularly posts in this thread, is a genious! You guys have inspired me to hack my phone and it's by far the best decision I have made for a while!

Thanks for your help.

It does. Do you recommend pdanet? Or is there a better option in your opinion? I'd prefer one without recurring fees ( that's my impression of pdanet)

You have to put pics in folders on your hard drive and then sync it via iTunes iirc.

for whatever reason, my iphone NY times app has stopped working...thoughts? It seems to correlate with winterboard...uninstalling winterboard did not really do anything...wtf. It basically loads the title screen (black screen saying NYtimes) and I see it trying to update, and then it just goes back to the springboard...wtf

NYTimes is prob the app I use the most tbh.

It works fine on mine with Winterboard running.

I'd start by uninstalling/reinstalling the NYT app.

I don't turn my phone off unless I absolutely have to, so this isn't a huge deal for me. What happens in the interim between turning the phone back on and re-jailbreaking? Is it functional?

When you cut your phone back on, it will be on the connect to itunes screen. So, the answer to your question is no.

Now understand, this is just for new phones that were manufactured starting sometime in October. I bought mine on 10/26 and have this problem.

I was wondering if anyone knows of an app that adds a search this page feature for safari (ctrl+f on a pc)?
01-13-2010 , 06:46 AM
there are "bookmarklets" that you can add as bookmarks in safari to do that.

here are a bunch, including "find in page". it's been a while since i added them to my phone but hopefully you can figure out how to do that (i know i didn't sync with safari as this site is suggesting you do). i think i found a different site that automatically added the bookmark if you clicked the link in mobile safari but i could be wrong.

I hate to ask stuff that I'm sure has been covered, but what's the difference between jailbreaking and unlocking?

jb gets you tons of apps not in the stores, unlocking means you can use with a different cell phone company than the one you bought it with.

PdaNet is free for html use. For all access it's a one time fee of $34.
