where do you go to read some of this info? i've been paying attention to macrumors.com/iphone but it seems like i read stuff in this thread that isn't posted there.

i don't have an iphone yet (holding out for new model this summer). i'd like to keep a pulse on when it's coming out and what we can expect etc.

Does anyone know with the iPhone can you upgrade from 200 texts to 400 or whatever for one month and then go back down, or are you stuck at the higher level?

My iphone experience since I bought one two days ago:

Jailbroke it. Did the tethering thing, pretty cool.

Made it so I can make calls from skype over the 3g network. If anyone is interested I can show you how

Signed a 2 year contract which I plan to break and pay $175 or whatever at the end of the year (leaving the country then). Though the dude said since I have Australian citizenship, and if I can prove I am leaving for good and living in Australia, I can get the termination fee refunded.

I have the $70/month plan (with unlimited data) which is the cheapest. But calls are near free through skype (just whatever skype costs), and unlimited internet on my computer! Pretty awesome deal imo

here's what mine looks like since i jailbroke it. thinking about getting a different background (i like blue better) though i haven't found one i like yet / haven't put that much time into it the last few days.

still gotta get some of these apps up and running proper and mess with a few more things. i feel like i've barely scratched the surface and i still don't know what i'm doing half the time.

I love it when iphone auto-corrects the last word in a text and you hit send before you can stop yourself. My new favorite one today, talking about how bad the Royals are sucking lately and how much we miss Soria: "Man we are horrible without Doris". Yes, yes we are.

So how long until we know if the new iPhone will be 32gb or whatever?

I want to get one ASAP because my Verizon service SUCKS here in Vegas and my contract is up July 10th or something.

Also, could I get a crap phone from AT&T and upgrade to iPhone when the new one comes out at the same discounted price? I guess that would be iDeal (lols).

oh googles, your but never dails me anymore....

so Apple agreed to replace my phone because my battery is on its way to die and running/charging very warm (possibly just the battery, but i have to send it in, or bring it to an Apple store). a couple of questions:

1) do i need to restore? what would happen if i come in with a jailbroken phone? they would say they will no longer honor the replacement warranty because it's void? of course, i'll restore before i go, but i don't have a good solution to take all my videos and other data off the phone.

2) if i take it in right now, what kind of a phone will i get? is it new, used, or refurbished?

3) my warranty is in effect for 85 more days. say i wait until August to replace. what are my chances of getting the new iPhone then? even if it costs $100 or so to upgrade, is this likely to happen? in other words, they must have already frozen (or will very shortly freeze) their inventory of 3G phones, at some point they will have to start replacing 3Gs with 4Gs, right? did anyone go through this with iPhone 1G and 3G?

How did the whole conversation go w/ Apple? Was it all over the phone? Mine has been getting warm & battery not lasting long lately, and I'm almost out of warranty as well (bought a few weeks after 3g launch)

Was it fairly straightforward?

I must be the dumbest person alive. I am trying to jailbreak my phone, but cant get past the first step. I have a 3g and I've downloaded quickpwn. It is asking me to browse for the firmware, but the only version that comes up is not the correct version. I am using 2.2.1, but 1,1_2.2 or something like that is the only thing I can find.

Can anybody help me?

yes. essentially, i described the symptoms, mentioned that i only get maybe 1.5-2 hours of talk time, and he immediately put me in for a replacement under warranty.

I am totally confused then.

My phone has the 2.2.1 firmware on it. I have no idea why I cant find that on my computer when I browse.

I was the same as you, so I just saved that to my desktop and then browsed to it when I quikpwnd. May not be the best way to do it, but it worked for me. C-Dog can prob tell you the correct way.

So current plan is to backup & restore to factory firmware, go into apple store and get replacement that way?

I think I will do the exact same thing if that works for you. I have been getting pissed at my phone lately...

Blah I'm probably going to break down and get one. My phone doesn't get very good reception and I'm beyond bored.

Goggles, they are fun, but I keep reading the new ones are coming out soon. Maybe if you get one now you can return it and get the new one.
