Iphone data plan is meant to be "unlimited" for usage on the phone. When you start tethering (a lot I mean), it sticks out and people have been charged for this.

As long as you're reasonable with the usage (i.e., not downloading movies/big files/etc), you should be fine.

If you like Tony Hawk games, Skater Nation is pretty good. I thinks it's only .99 right now and easily worth it. Rumor has it, a Tony Hawk game (THPS 2) is coming to the iphone soon.

i have a small problem, basically my iphone software had an error. whenever i went to type anything on the keyboard there were no letters/ symbols and phone would crash. So any i tried to restore it with the old firmware and I got an error doing this too, so i had to restore the phone with the new software on. Is it possible to jailbreak the new software yet or is it possible to put the old software back on? ty

meh, fact of the matter is that apple is highly unlikely to add anything that wows me. Best case scenario is probably them adding features I've already got via jb.

Really stupid question, my ringer speaker seems to be going in and out on the iPhone I got 8 months or so ago. Do I take the phone back to the AT&T store where I got it, or Apple store?
04-08-2010 , 02:50 AM
Best bet is to make a genius appt. and take it to the Apple store.

Yep, they added a bunch of features already available via jailbreak.

Oh, and they're introducing iAD. So basically, you can upgrade to 4.0 and get everything jb 3.x users already have, but with some extra ads. Great job apple!

Is there a list of updates?

Notable new features for users:
-Multitasking.
-Spell check (like on the iPad).
-Bluetooth keyboard support (again, on the iPad).
-User-defined wallpaper (a jailbreak favorite).
-Tap to focus when recording video, just like with photos, and a 5x digital zoom for the camera.
-Playlist creation and nested playlists.
-App folders for sorting apps! You can even put an app folder in the dock.
-Enhanced Mail! You can have a merged inbox view, switch between inboxes quickly, and sync to more than one Exchange account. There's also threaded messaging (at last!) and in-app attachment viewing.
-iBooks, just like on iPad, only smaller. You can wirelessly sync books between platforms, a la Kindle.
-Enterprise features, including remote device management and wireless app distribution.
-Game Center. It's like Xbox Live, but for iPhone games. Includes achievements, leaderboards, and match making. It will be available as a "developer preview," and out for consumers later this year.

Developers are getting plenty of new tricks too:
-New SDK, available today.
-1,500 new APIs.
-Background audio (think Pandora).
-Background VoIP (think Skype).
-Background location data, both with live GPS for backgrounded turn-by-turn, and cell tower-based for lower power draw.
-Local notifications. Like push notifications, but sends a notification straight from the app without needing a push notification server, perfect for an alarm, for instance.
-Fast app switching. Saves the state of an app and resumes it from where you left off, without dwelling in memory.
iAd. Apple says it's for keeping "free apps free." The ads keep you in the app, while also taking over the screen and adding interactivity -- using HTML 5 for -video -- up to simple gaming in-ad. Apple will offer a 60 / 40 split on revenue, and users can even buy apps straight from an ad.
-In-app SMS.
-Map overlays.
-Quick look for previewing documents.
-Photo Library access.
-Calendar access.
-Full access to the camera.
-Video playback and capture.
-Date and address "data detectors."
-Automated testing and performance / power analysis (the same tools Apple uses).

Come on Apple! All I want is a lockscreen calendar!

Lol "iTunes terms and conditions have changed, please read the new T&C..." (pg 1 of 92)

I anxiously await the day when all of these are required to be reasonably short and in plain English.

Its pretty funny that apple is so vehemently anti jailbreaking yet all of their new features are coming straight out of the jailbreak community.

Even the appstore itself (which has made apple millions) didn't exist until well after the jb community had started putting 3rd party apps on os 1.x

Oh well, the main feature (Multi) can't even be used on my 3G, so I guess I'm just waiting on iPhone G4.

Yea, same here. But they'll both probably come out at the same time anyways. Glad I skipped the 3GS.

I made money by getting a 3gs. Sold my 3g for $400 and bought the 3gs for $200.

I hope to do the same thing w/ 4th gen

Today is the day I decided to upgrade to a 3GS. Just wondering if I'll wait until the Verizon version comes out, possibly later this year.
