Been watching some of Bo's older stuff, as I did not know him before Inside. I am really impressed with his lyrical ability. The puns come so fast and furious it's tough to keep up. I think the early stuff is probably objectively funnier, but the new special is another level in terms of social commentary and capturing a strange moment in time.

I remember seeing a portion of his Comedy Central Presents and the last verse in “Love Is” kind of blew me away. Especially from a kid. I saw “Words Words Words” and that was it. Fan for life!! I think “Make Happy” was more effecting, specifically at the end, but as a whole “Inside” is just fantastic!!

I'm guessing he wasn't well known outside the UK, but RIP Sean Lock. Very funny and popular British comic, probably best known for his regular panel show appearances, but also a great stand-up.

Well worth checking out Youtube for some of his best bits. I would post some clips but I think they'd be location locked.

I've probably said this before but Dave Attell's Road Work is probably the peak of filmed comedy specials for me. Absolutely hilarious. He has such awesome command of the crowd and his material is so damn funny. Top comic at the peak of his game. Must watch.

Also enjoyed Todd Barry's Crowd Work which is similar to Attell's in that it is a series of filmed sets from small clubs throughout the country. Barry's set is 100% crowd work and it's impressive how funny be can be on the fly, without prepared material.

2 days on and this still upsets me. Have been watching youtubes of him sporadically ever since. One of my faves - he was just effortlessly funny.

What can you say but me too. Just last weekend I was having a beer with some friends and telling them how good "Hitler's Dog" is on Netflix. Rewatched it Sunday and was just saying how I need to watch more of his show clips, he's so damn funny. Gone way too soon.

Don't remember the last comedy special that left me speechless. This last Chapelle one certainly did. I still don't really fully know what to say.

They'd something sadly meta about the predictability of the backlash.

it is very tempting to type something sneery like "it left me speechless too, for different reasons" but that wouldn't be quite accurate.

but i will say that watching chappelle on stage is like a magic trick. his presence is so great that you have a pretty good time, and it's only after you finish watching that you realise 'hmm, there was very little actual great comedy (or even material) in that, there was a bunch of unforgivably hacky ****, there was a bunch of stuff that made no sense, and a lot of stuff that basically amounted to "i'm not racist cuz i have black friends"'.

hell of a trick though!

That is an accurate description of what he's turned into now. His older stuff was great.
