Most thought the late 2020 timeline for an approved vaccine was too optimistic so maybe this is a case of the Biden admin under promising and over delivering.
It mostly depends on when the J&J vaccine comes online. It’s one shot, no super-cold storage and they should be able to manufacture a ton. If it’s approved by Jan/early Feb, there will start to be enough doses for everyone by March/April. If it slips or doesn’t test well, then it’ll be on the Summer/Fall timeline. The early time frame requires most everything to go well, but it might. It has so far.
In a perverse way, our abject failure to control COVID is a good thing because it has allowed the phase 3 trials to go really fast. Not much comfort to the 320k dead people however.
