Everything's worse in Texas.

So I had an interview yesterday where the guy knew my ex-husband. He basically talked about my ex-husband for 20 mins and asked me a lot of personal questions about why we split and what we are doing with our daughter. The interview lasted 2 hrs; he had me meet all of the engineering staff individually. At the end, he said he really liked me and wanted me to join his company, but I was asking for way too much money. He told me his senior engineer was only making $60k and he would barley reach $50k with me. He firmly believed that the oil and gas industry had inflated engineers salaries and kept talking about how when he started he only made $20k and engineers should be maxing out at retirement age at $65k.

50K seems like a lot more than 0

If I hold out I can make 75-85k. A recruiter just put me in for a job with UL this week and another company has sent me their assessment test; kinda like the wonderlic. If you score high on it you get an interview. So I've got a couple of irons in the fire now, and I'm trying to apply for at least 20 jobs a day now.

What are you basing this on?

This is the range I've been in, and I'm not taking any less.

Give me a ****in' break. Did you bother looking up what $20k inflation adjusted would be today? People are so bad at knowing the relative purchasing power of a dollar over time. LoL olds.

My first job I made $3/hr and I never accepted less than that.

I just finished the assessment test for this other company. I got 34 out of 50 questions in 15 mins....hope I make the cut; I don't know what scores they are looking for. I hate that I'm slower at reading.

They used to hire in the 42-47 range, and they are not taking any less.

No, not yet. I updated it from the last time I posted it here and a recruiter made some tweaks a couple of weeks ago.

A lot of those abstract shape questions.

How many mistakes are in this list?

a few fill in the correct set of words in the sentence, and some basic logic questions.

Doing some research it looks like they look at how you scored in 3 different ways.

#attempted/50=speed

#correct/#attempted=accuracy


#correct/50=General score

34/50 is a D+

6, because noone's going to let you buy an odd number of shoes.

I don't imagine many people finish the test. I was doing each question in about 22.5 seconds and I finished 40.

Why do you have to be some mean to her? It's because she's a woman, isn't it? Pig.
