MLYLT,

Most of the times these tests don't even matter that much. Keep your chin up and maybe see if you can follow some course in grammar and spelling - I can imagine you'll benefit greatly from it in your professional and private life.

I'm really hoping they compare my score against the other canadiates and they just give up on the engineers scoring high on the language test.

Mlylt,

I'm sure many engineers score highly on language tests.

I learned 99% of grammar by the time I was out of freshman year of HS.

It really is considered a requirement in many work places, it would be a good idea to improve in it.

who else apart from Engineers would be applying for this role?

Only engineers would be applying. I was saying that I hope all the engineering candidates universally do bad on the language, and they decide to pick one of us on our experience. You have to score high/pass this test to get to the next interview.

I don't think you know many engineers lol

While I was in college they had the entire university take some standardized test. The engineering department single handedly brought down the schools language scores lol
They started making us write these crap technical papers in all of our classes.

Mlylt,

I know many more engineers than you. Lots of them are very good at language skills, and many are excellent at word games/puzzles.

Of course, there are plenty that have poor language/writing skills as well.

MLYLT,

Take the advice. The whole 'I'm good with numbers, so I suck with letters'-myth has been debunked IIRC.

Poor writing makes you look bad everytime.

Not really sure how I'm supposed to respond to this other than to say that many family members and friends have gone to college for engineering.

Though to be fair, I'm sure whatever college you went to is a lot different than the ones they did, so your expectations were probably an order of magnitude lower.

Or you are delusional and don't realize that many engineers have exceptional language skills because many of them are extremely intelligent and can clearly be good at many different things and not just numbers.

Keep ****ing that chicken, though.

They won't.
Most engineers are pretty bright, and most bright people have a solid grasp of simple things like language, spelling, and grammar.

I'm not delusional. My opinion is based on my experience. I have know, gone to school with, and worked with many engineers who struggled with language. And, I'm not saying we are only good at numbers; engineers are brilliant. I'm good at a lot of things and I can unexplainably figure out problems, puzzles, ect really fast when others are confused; I'm just not good with spelling and unscrambling letters. It's sounds crazy, but when I was working on compressors, I could tell what was wrong by just feeling the vibrations....I would feel the vibrations and do a series of checks and just know what was going on with the machine.

Speaking generally, engineers are as a group not as strong on the language side as they are o. The numbers side, although I expect that engineers are better than the average populace at language skills.
