Still wondering myself why they don't have a tranq guy and a killshot guy both ready to go. Tranq first, if it looks like he's gonna go ****ing nuts then kill him. Somewhere on Instagram there is a video that shows the similarities of apes dragging their young, they literally just pick them up and bail... From the video pretty sure if he was gonna kill the kid little homie is dead about 10 seconds in.

In fact how about creating a device that, when the zookeepers press a button, injects large amounts of roofies directly into the blood.

Killing a poor ape doesn't really seem like a smart move.

Also @sly caveat: why didn't anyone catch the video of him being shot and killed? Unless I'm missing something that's been released. As I said I "wonder" why two guys can't be ready at the same time. A darted ape is then going to tear the kid to pieces when he's already had 15 mins to do so? Doesn't make sense to me but whatevs

slidey, you're being Captain Hindsight. You don't two full time marksmen and a book of infinite hypothetical situations on how to maximize the chances of survival for the animals. You have a Junior college grad and a gun and a rule that says when a deadly animal has a child you shoot the animal. This is the protocol at every zoo ever. There's just not another way to do it. When you start leaving it up to the discretion of the individuals on the scene, eventually you lose a child. That just can't happen, from either a moral or a business perspective.
