Ting seems to be worth a look given the amount they advertise on American podcasts with people I know turn down adverts of ****ty products. I think they run on the Sprint network but have a better pricing structure.

I can't even find a manufacturer logo on it. It's the one that they pulled from my Droid X when I switched phones. Meh. It's my own fault for not backing up, it's real easy to do it through google on the Androids.

Speaking of Twitter problems -

Within the last few days I got messages from two people I don't know saying that I'm favoriting one of their tweets over and over every day. I did favorite them once, months ago. I reset my password and upgraded to the latest version of Falcon pro, problem remains. Any ideas? Likely a twitter or Falcon problem? I'm stumped.

I looked at Ting, but sprints network is even worse than Tmo around me. I fully expect the no contact market to continue to improve, so I should have plenty of options in the near future if ST doesn't work out.

I've seen a lot of threads specifically talking about the no MMS issue with an N5, which is what my wife and I would be getting.

Thoughts? I'd really like to save ~$70/mo, but we send and receive picture messages regularly and don't want to be hassled with that.
I have a N5 on Straight Talk (ATT Sim) and haven't had any problems using the default MMS settings but my wife was having problems with her N4 on ST and MMS. I read online that sometimes it glitches the first month and if you just hold out until the first renewal (30 days) it will work. My wife hated it that first month, but after that 30 day renewal, her mms starting working instantly.

I have an s4 and a n7 and I think it would be an interesting switch but like both quite a bit!

I went from a S4 to a G2, the jump was pretty big at least when it came to the processors (S600 would lag with TW but the S800 is smooth as butter on LG's UI), non physical home button is always a plus. Battery life is probably about the same since S800 helps battery. On the G2, I miss the SD card a little bit but I am a download whore.

I've been trying to remember to shut-down twitter manually after I use it (I don't use it much to begin with), but I forgot last night. At this rate, I just know it's going to cause me to miss an important alarm clock one day.

Unfortunately, twitter isn't giving out any more authentication codes at the time, so I can't switch to any other clients.
You got root?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...greenify&hl=en

Cause this app is pretty good for that sort of thing. It will hibernate any app you want.

Re: g+ photo syncing - you should check your settings to make sure that the default is to a *private* folder. I don't think that is the default unless you have specifically set it as your general g+ default. That is, if you care.

It was set there by default for me but I don't use it for anything else so there are no normal pic albums.

Yeah, I'm rooted and thanks I'll look into it. I also have tasker so I am going to see if there is a way for it to completely force stop twitter when I exit

Err, Twitter shouldn't be using 40% of battery. Reboot the phone, if the problem persists it is probably polling too often checking for new tweets so the phone won't go into deep sleep.

Anyone have any thoughts for custom roms for the note 2? Obviously looking for kitkat ones. ParanoidAndroid is what I've been using, but it doesn't look like they have a version for the note 2.

Any help would be appreciated.

S4 to N5 downgrade. Obviously N5 is a great device but S4 is higher end. Better speakers, camera, has SD card slot. I'd recommend just flashing a stable KK ROM on your S4 and save your money.

We just picked up a Moto G for my son and I gotta say it is just an outstanding device in general, and it is simply stellar for something we picked up for $180. It is snappy as hell and the apps are good. The stuff I thought would suck like hell, such as the 5-MP camera and the lack of LTE, are not bothering me at all. Motorola's camera app is pretty sweet as well.

In fact, this device is nice enough that my daughter and my buddy are both interested in Moto devices now. My daughter seems to want to swap her iPhone 4s for a Moto X (instead of an iPhone 5) and my buddy wants to get 3 Moto G's for himself and his sons. After talking with my buddy, it really seems that people just don't know stuff like this is out there and that that is why people aren't picking these up in droves. He basically only knew what they had at Wal-Mart and that was it, but was amazed when I let him handle this $180 device.

As soon as I get some rebates from switching our cable out, I am picking up my Nexus 5 (FINALLY!). I can't wait.

galaxy s5 announced. http://www.theverge.com/2014/2/24/54...ncement-launch
"The Galaxy S5 is scheduled to launch globally in April and will be available on all major US carriers, though Samsung isn’t yet ready to talk pricing."
"On April 11th, we will release these incredible devices in nearly 150 countries."
i like the water resistance and camera seems very nice.
"If my Galaxy S5 is down to only 10% battery, it can still last up to 24 hours in standby [in ultra power saving mode]."
otherwise most stuff seems similar to s4, but no in depth-tests / reviews yet. not a huge samsung fan in general, but seems like a solid, gradual update in general.

in other news, the sony xperia z2 phone (as well as the t2 tablet) look promising.

From the little I have seen the S5 is...fine. Nothing mind-melting, just a solid upgrade over the S4.

At least with the fingerprint reader the physical home key makes sense again instead of just being a "retro" throwback to the old days of 2010.

water resistance is a pretty sweet feature

it's LDO they didn't come out with more gimmicky features that nobody uses - Samsung just isn't very good at innovating. better to not try than cram more useless stuff in there.

I like the tighter-radius corners of the Note 3, and I think that dimpled back is hideous if functional. I also wish the phone got thinner, not thicker, but if that's for the waterproof than it's obviously worth the .01" increase.

Kinda heavy, too, but again, waterproof. The rest of it seems good and I'm also glad I don't have to hear or read about weird eye-tracking magic hocus pocus.

Why isn't it coming with 4.4?

I read that it was, 4.4.2 in fact (Verge, Gizmodo). Where did you read that it wasn't?

yes, 4.4.2
@kpowers: the s5 is water resistant, not water proof, quite a big difference. the sony z2 is water proof (i.e. up to 30minutes in 1 meter deep water).
