Just curious if th N5 will run on the Verizon network, ive heard that Verizon somehow blocks the N5
we have AT&T sims. you cant use the N5 on verizons network.

Wife recently purchased the ZTE Majesty from WalMart.

- $180 phone
- $45 / month straight talk unlimited talk text data (buy a year, it goes to ~$41 month)
- runs on Verizon network - good service in our area
- 4.5" screen - nice size
- 1.2 ghz snapdragon processor - responsive, smooth does everything you would expect
- battery life is never an issue
- works perfectly on our wifi

It's not an iphone or an S4, but it really strikes me as a nice phone for the money. Highly recommend after a month of owning it.

I keep seeing phone plans in this thread that are cheap as **** from t he US. Then on reddit you see complaints from muricans about cellphone plans being the most expensive in the world.. i dont get it? In canada you don't get anything close to unlimited(i dont count carriers that only work in big cities and not even suburbs) for under 100$ a month.

Hell im paying 65$ for 200mins and 1gb + ****ty voicemail(3 max) + after 6pm free + nothing and its not a bad deal

anyone care to explain?

Canada has the highest cell phone rates in the industrialized world. Rumors had Verizon coming here but nope. 3 companies basically control everything and conspire to set the rates. Same for cable

the US has high rates compared to most other countries, but not compared to all of them. (canada is an exception, switzerland is an exception etc).
and 90%+ of all people don't use the t-mobile 30$ prepaid plan, but instead pay 100$ / month to verizon and use an iphone. (exageration obv).
and btw, the industry (lead by t-mobile) changed a lot over the last 12 month.

It's definitely Verizon for the ZTE Majesty. When we were establishing the service, we received a couple of messages from Verizon. Not an authority, but as I understand it, CDMA phones on straight talk use Verizon. Mentioned in comments on the attached review and saw it several other places.

Here in France we've got unlimited text/voice/data (20 GO 4G then throttled) for 20 euros. We got ass gapped for over a decade by the historical big 3 compagnies then Free Mobile kicked them all in the ass.

my wife dropped her N5 in the ****ing toilet at work. She dried it off and tried to turn it on (which i think is a big no-no), and got in in rice within 30 minutes or so. Anything else to do besides leave it there for 24 hours or so? Since you cant take the back off, does that lessen the chance it will work still?

The back just pries off.

Turning it on was really bad. But yeah all you can do is sit it in rice and hope for the best.

Just want to say that I recently switched from Nova Launcher to Themer.

Really enjoying Themer so far. I don't spend a lot of time customizing so this is right up my alley. Find a cool theme that I enjoy, install, and bam! Off we go.

Highly recommend.

As an Apple love who has had a iPhone since it first came out, I have a question about making the switch to a Samsung Galaxy S: how hard/easy it to get all my songs on iTunes to a comparable mp3 player on the Galaxy?

if all of your stuff is DRM, not very difficult
If all of your stuff is DRM and you're a little bitch who won't torrent, kind of a PITA

So if I were to want to get an S5 and use Straight Talk... how would I go about that?

They have a "Bring Your Own Phone" tab near the top for you to bring a device that is out-of-contract and/or unlocked. This would mean, of course, that you would have to buy an S5 before bringing it to the service.

-------

Unrelated note to the above, I am finally going to be a part of the Nexus 5 owning masses by no later than Wednesday. Better still, my father purchased it for me as a thank you for both adding him to my AT&T plan, which only costs me $15 more a month, which he still plans on paying himself, it will just cost him less than his current service. Moreover, he was appreciative of all the basic tech support type stuff I have been doing for him too, but yeah, I have a free Nexus coming my way in not more than two days (already shipped).

I'm probably late to this party but solid explorer now has a plugin to play local content over chrome cast. This is fantastic.

Sent from my Nexus 5 using 2+2 Forums

Just spoke with a verizona guy about straight talk( specifically about using a verizon sim)..said yes you will be on the verizon network, but it is limited, about 1/4 of the coverage, plus you do not have priority, I.E if the network gets busy and they need to start dropping service, staright talk is the first to lose.
