LG G4 will have a removable 3000mAh battery and SD card slot. If the build is slick I may find myself switching from the Galaxy series to LG G series. Crazy times man!

Wow sounds perfect. 5.5 inch display is a good size too. My only gripe with the G3 was how cheap it felt. Wonder if they'll step up build quality for the 4.

What happens when you plug it into a laptop/desktop and do it that way?

Edit, the file not supported can't delete problem

in the right hand upper corner is the vertical dots. Press that and a drop screen will open. Choose 'content to display'. Uncheck Picasa

How is LG when it comes to android software updates? I'm eligible to trade in my htc one (m7) in a few months and debating between the G4, S6, and new htc one.

I'm aware that a big part of update speed is tied to the carrier.

My carrier is T-Mobile. Considering they don't offer discounts on their phones, is there any reason to purchase from them, or should I always buy from a third party?

Does anyone have experience with the Xperia compact series?

Downloading Lollipop for my Galaxy S4 (lolRogersCanada). Ridiculous that a 1gb file is taking 2 hours to download. Guess I'll update on my way to work tomorrow. That should make for an emotional way to start my day.

I don't do this, but I think if you do the Jump program you can upgrade every year? So I guess you'd sort of be paying half price that way (because I think your monthly rate is based off a 2 year payment plan). Not sure about this though.

I personally am just waiting for my phones trade-in value to exceed what I owe. Which will actually be after about 1 years worth of time (in a couple months, and I'll either get the S6 or G4).

3rd party phones will not have wi-fi calling, if that's important to you.

Generic GSM/unlocked might not, but "T-Mobile" phones should, right? Even if they're not purchased "from" T-Mobile?

This doesn't seem as good a promotion as the 200 dollars for a 600+ retail phone with a 2 year contract that's offered by other carriers, but it's better than nothing.

I'm currently using a Blackberry Z10 and would like my next phone to be a flagship in the 4.6 to 5.2 screen range. I have my eye on the Sony Xperia Z3 compact and Galaxy S6. The waterproof feature of the Z3 is a major selling point for me. Any other prospective phones that fit this billing?

Am I correct in assuming there's no way to get iMessage on an android?

The decision to do the Jump program or not is kind of a separate thing. Regarding the $200 phone+contract vs full price phone model, it mostly evens out. A while ago when I was deciding to switch to Tmo from AT&T, the full price phone + cheaper Tmo service was actually cheaper overall than the discounted phone + more expensive AT&T service.

Recently, I did a similar comparison with discount+contract vs no contract on AT&T (they now offer no contract like Tmo), and it's more or less the same.

Yea, that's what my sister who recently switched from AT&T to T-Mobile said. Still, given that info optimal play is still use T-mobile service and find a deal on a phone from a 3rd party.

Yea, if you're ok being in an older generation of phones I 100% agree.

I'm considering the same switch, paying $109/mo for att and thinking of going with their $40/mo plan and upgrading phones whenever, using the oneplus one now.

How was the change for you?

Nice! Will T-mobile supply them though? They've already discontinued the Z3, although you can still purchase it from the stock they have remaining in stores. Some pundits have speculated that the reason T-Mobile discontinued the Z3 in the first place was because Sony was going to unveil the Z4; I suppose we'll just have to wait and see.

The experience was/is mostly positive. T-Mobile is a fantastic company, and the service in major cities is basically flawless. My only gripe is if you live in the middle of nowhere or travel around a lot, you'll definitely hit dead spots or possibly have lots of trouble. But when I do trips I'm either with someone else or I can use the wifi calling (works for texting too) feature. I do the $60/month plan (3 gigs unthrottled) + $27 for monthly phone payment + a few bucks in taxes for like $95/month.
