Nexus 5. I did not flash a non-stock ROM.

Checking my APN there are two listed and the one selected just says "ATT phone"

also probably relevant is that for some reason my phone is only picking up like 2 bars of reception in my downtown condo. This was never an issue with my iphone or s4. but I believe my texts were going through as normal when i was out last night with full bars and LTE.

I saw the LG flex last night. It looks very cool. Anyone here have one / experience? I'll be upgrading in about a month. I assume the G3 will be great too...

just sent a text that ended up being received 60+ times by the other party

After some very unscientific testing I've isolated the issue to times i don't have LTE reception...

i'm assuming you're on straight talk? if so, after you add the APN for the network you need, you have to delete all other APN's on the phone. No clue if thats whats causing the massive amounts of texts, but try it anyway.

Try switching to ATT LTE (pta).

nlsoldier: if you go into the dialer and enter *#*#4636#*#* (just enter this exactly like that as if you would want to call this number), you access a "secret menu" and there in "phone information" you can select "lte only". normally i wouldn't suggest you to change anything in there, but at least this could help you temporarily, if the sms problem only exists on non-lte network. but of course, then your phone will only use LTE and if you don't have a lte signal, you won't get a signal at all...

but are you absolutely sure that you did not flash a new radio? this could explain the reception problems (and the sms stuff)

Hmm I'll try that but prob not gonna be a good solution since i don't seem to get lte in my condo.

I used wug's Nexus toolkit to root and followed the instructions very carefully/exactly . Didn't do anything custom afaik.

Are you sure you used the N5 version of the toolkit?

I know pwnsall has a rooted n5. And I'm pretty sure he's on AT&T (straighttalk).

You might PM him..

a few weeks back my tablet went on the fritz 2 weeks after the warranty expired. I sent it to ASUS and they told me the main board was defective and would need to be replaced. I paid the repair bill and waited for it to be shipped out. I picked up the package from Purolator today and received this.

The case is actually bent, there is a crease line on the back of it. I called Purolator and they told me to file a claim. The tablet is a complete write off.

So, what are people's picks for tablets so far this year? The newest Sony table got good reviews and I heard good rumblings about the new Samsung tablet that is soon to be released or maybe it has been already?

Just doing some tablet browsing online and came across the Ramos line from China, obviously price point on these is crazy low, $330 for an 12 in tablet but I am suspect on any sort of warranty offered, etc. Perhaps the low price offsets any worry about repair since they are so cheap you can just buy another one.

Google is supposedly announcing a new tablet around the 3rd week of June. People are guessing it's an 8 inch Nexus variant.

Just ordered a Ramos i12 for $349. Since everything else I buy with a name brand is made in China anyhow, might as well see how a Chinese brand does. For the price couldn't really be beat. Supposed to arrive in 5-7 days.

349$ seems a bit high for a chinese tablet.

I dont want to rain on your parade but
specs are nice, ramos is an ok brand , but when you look how many tablet they release, i d be really worried about bugs and updates.
as for the price 300$ for a chinese tablet is really high prices.
on a side note 800g for a tablet is a nightmare for a daily usage
Now i hope it turn out ok for you

I cancelled the order. I got hasty on getting a new tablet, I'll wait awhile to see what else comes on the market

The G3 looks pretty sweet. I'd like to hold one to see if a 5.5" can be as comfy as they say. If so I'd like one.

I used to use the app talkatone a lot but now you have to pay. Any recommendations for a good Android app that lets you make free long distance calls over WiFi?

Yea they really did a good job on the hardware side. Pretty much everything I want in a phone but probably still not enough to switch from my GS4.

Seems pointless buying an android tablet now with the nexus event just about three weeks away. It is just begging for buyers remorse a large percent of the time.
