Should be in there somewhere. Good advice is to read the stickies at the top of every sub-forum. They're good for learning your way around and also contain good strat posts.

On sharkscope, there is a ability/100 stat. What exactly does that mean and what on sharkscope determines what your ability is?

Thanks

Useless. Ignore it.

Pay attention to their betting patterns with hands they show down.
Use this information to make an educated guess at their holdings

Do you have the hand you want to post? If not, then the way to get them depends on the software (most rooms will let you copy hands, but some smaller rooms won't). Most of the time if you go in the hand replayer after the hand is finished, you can copy the hand history text and then paste it to notepad or wherever else. If the session is over, you can go to your hard drive (the hand history location will depend on the room you play, and you'll probably need to enable logging for it to save your histories).

Once you have the hand history text, you can post it to http://weaktight.com/ then once it's submitted, click the 2p2 button (3rd from left) and copy/paste the hand history text into your forum post.

Hi, I know the odds are approximately 4.5:1, but what is the percentage chance that you will make your straight either on the turn or the river when you have an open ended straight draw on the flop?

What percent of the time will you make the flush?

Thanks, I know this is basic math, but I suck.

approximately 2% for each out you have

Hi, if I have an open ended straight draw on the flop, what percentage of the time will I make it by the river?

Same question when I am 4 to a flush.

Preflop Raise(PFR):
When someone raises Preflop, if someone 3bets this is also counted towards your PFR as well

Raise First:
Raise First is similar to Pre Flop Raise except it doesn’t include 3bets as its only the 1st person to raise that has their Raise First stat effected and it doesn't include raising limpers.

OESD = ~32% or so
FD = ~ 36%

What use is knowing combinatorics when we have PokerStove that automatically discounts cards?

Ever heard of the rule of 4 and 2? It makes calculating your percentages easier. On the flop, to calculate the percentage chance of making your hand you multiply the amount of outs you have by 4 to get your river percentage and 2 to get your turn percentage.

eg . you have an open ended straight draw which is 8 outs. If you multiply 8 outs by 4 you get 32. This is approximately your percentage of making your hand on the river.
If you want to know your odds of making your hand on the next card (the urn when you're on the flop, or the river when you're on the turn), multiply your outs by 2.
8 outs by 2 =16. So your odds of making your draw on the next card are 16%.

4 and 2. Its easy to remember and a good way of learning the odds.

Have you tried using PokerStove in real time?

Erm, if you're playing a monster pot at 200nl, and then you play a monster pot at 400nl on pokerstars, is the rake likely to be the same?
***** Official Dumb Questions Thread **** Quote

Yup. The rake is capped. The smaller the stakes you play the more you are affected by the rake.

I do sometimes, but only when I have 2 tables open.

Anyway, if I use PokerStove to estimate equity and eventually know my equity in every pot, why do I need to use combinatorics?

I know its really hard to accurately estimate your equity in every pot, but what thought process needs to involve combinatorics?

I know that my equity in a spot is x roughly, so what does combinatorics have to do with it?

I really want to prefect my thought process so please explain to me how you would go about implementing combinatorics into your thought process.

Thanks

PokerStove's equity calculation assumes you're going to showdown. If you're going to want to not go to showdown vs some of the range, you'd need to know some combinatorics to estimate what % of their range is the one you want. Like if you're thinking of shoving a draw, you'd want to know your fold equity, which is combinatorics. Once called, stove will tell you your equity against the calling range.

I started the 15 day free trial of HEM a few days ago. The problem I am having is lining up the hud with the players the stats relate to. They overlap and are some times not even on the right player. I am able to move them around by clicking the arrow buttons when you select the table size but this still moves them on to the players stack sizes. Also the toggle option doesnt let me move them where I want. Is there no simple way of just dragging and dropping them where you want? Or am I just being totally stupid
