9man SnG, 3 places paid, 4 players left.. in general it's situation where only one more player has to be knocked out to be in the money

If yes, he probably just got a momentary emotional rollercoaster ride. "YE----! nooooo."

If he hit a gutshot straight on the turn (he held AK and a Jack came) but you caught a full house on the river, that would be a suck, resuck.

as it was, nobody sucked out.
Ah yes, that makes sense, thanks.

So actually, nothing really happened. The Kd wasn't an out for him, and my hand simply held up.

Thanks also, bumblebee99.

edit: yep the cards were face up after we were both all in on the flop.

Not you what you mean. You need to sign up with an affiliate and then sign up with FTP through the affiliate in order to get rakeback.

If I want to practice LAG, what game format (e.g. 9-10-18-etc sng's, ring games, etc.) would minimize losses by providing a minimal return? Other than play money.

FTP plays matrix tournaments. That might be what you're looking for. And, obviously lowering the buy-in.

1) What does "floating your stack" ,"float bet" and finally "floating" mean? Im assuming their all apart of the same concept.

2) What is meant by mearging ranges?

Excellent question that you partially answer yourself.

Different stats take a different amount of hands to converge towards "real." Stats like VPIP and PFR are relatively reliable as to a players tendencies after just a couple of dozen hands and are probably very reliable after only a few hundred. Stats like AF, 3bet, 4bet, W$SD etc can take significantly longer to converge.

Note that all these stats are going to converge significantly more rapidly for loose players than for tight ones. It's going to take a player whose true VPIP is 25 four times as long to converge as a true VPIP 50 player, and 25x as long for a true VPIP 10 player.

Read the forum some time now and I decided to take a grab at more serious poker, currently have made a 400 euros deposit, what stakes I should start? I play on a site where I have 20NL and 10NL as the lower stakes. So what do you recommend?

Play 10nl till you're comfortable and confident. You have enough to play 20nl once you know you're winning.

Thanks for your advice, sir, I thought the same to start at a stake with a bigger bankroll to feel comfortable first.

I'm looking for a good (free) way to keep track of my hands and bankroll. A friend challenged me to make 100$ out of 1$, and I want to generate this nice little graph from it and also evaluate my play.

Get Poker Tracker 3. You can use the trial mode for 60 days before having to buy it.

The guidlines Chris Ferguson used during his 10,000 Challenge via: http://www.fulltiltpoker.com/chris-ferguson-challenge

* He never bought into a cash game or a Sit & Go for more than 5 percent of his total bankroll; the only exception was at the lowest limits: he was allowed to buy into any game with a buy-in of $2.50 or less
* He didn’t buy into any multi-table tournaments for more than 2 percent of his total bankroll; the only exception was $1 MTTs
* If at any time during a No-Limit or Pot-Limit cash-game session the money on the table represented more than 10 percent of his total bankroll, he had to leave the game when the blinds reached him

can someone explain whether this is one guy's stack at the table or the entire table's combined money on the table? either way, i don't see the big deal. is it because he can't picture himself going all in w/ an individual 2 or 3 times and not getting felted?

A quick question on dealing with tilt. I feel I am playing OK and seem to be getting my chips in with the best of it most of the time but over the space of about half an hour I get sucked out on a ridiculous amount of times.

This happens to most of us from time to time. But what is the best course of action? Do you continue playing games and starting fresh tournaments or do you quit for the day and come back again tomorrow?
