If you have any question about ANYTHING to do with CASH GAMES (i know some SnG/MTT stuff as well, but not nearly as well as it isnt my main game.) go ahead and ask me in this thread. Also if you need any help message me @ MrPresidentPolk on aim.

I hope this post doesn't come off as conceited, i am just happy that poker has offered me the opportunity that it has, and i am looking to give back here a bit. I will also post in some of the threads but a lot of them tilt me because a lot of the questions are thee same ones over and over again, and a lot of the people who give advice in this forum are not even necessarily correct. Regardless generally speaking it is ok advice and I want to help you! So go ahead and ask me anything cash game related. Hands, Strategy, BR, you name it, i am here to help.
I get confused by how strategy differs for all the different variations of HE (no-limit, tournament, $2-$10 spread limit, $3-$6 limit, etc.). So my question is, I'm currently interested in playing a live $2-$40 spread limit full table game .5-$1 blinds and would like to know which books on strategy would be best for this format. I generally understand tournament strategy doesn't work well in cash games and vice versa, but would like to zero in on $2-$40 spread limit before the piranhas in my local game leave nothing but my skeleton...any advice on a good book or way to focus on the proper strategy for the specific type of HE being played would be appreciated.

IM A .5-.10 CASH GAME PLAYER, AS WELL AS A FREQUENT $5-$10 BUY IN TOURNAMENT PLAYER. I PLAY AROUND 8-10 HOURS DAILY, I HAVE 2 MAJOR ISSUES THAT I KNOW FOR A FACT ARE NOT LETTING ME SUCCED IN POKER

1. I LOSE FOCUS VERY EASYLY, ID SAY I FOCUS 40 PERCENT OF THE TIME
(THAT IS BECAUSE IF IM NOT PAYING 110 PERCENT ATTENTION TO EVERY TINY DETAIL IN THE TABLE (PLAYERS AGGRESION, POSSIBLE HANDS THEY HOLD ETC) I FEEL AS IF MY PLAY IS HORRENDOUS) SO IS EITHER MY A GAME OR MY C GAME, AND IS HARD TO KEEP YOUR A GAME ALL THE TIME

2. WHEN I LOSE 1 BIG POT, I LOSE CONTROL, AND NO MATTER WHAT STATE IM ON I GO DOWN TO MY C GAME

WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP BEAT THIS TRRAUMA?

IVE TRIED QUITTING AFTER I LOSE A BIG HAND AND PLAYING 5-10 MINUTES AFTER, BUT WHAT ABOUT WHEN IM IN A TOURNEY???

ID LIKE YOUR OPINION, I REALLY HAVE ISSUES WITH MY MENTAL STATE WILE PLAYING POKER THANKS

http://www.pokerstove.com/

this is very important to find +EV spots, review sessions and hand ranges of players amongst other things.

you can get Hold'em manager free if u use the promo code from the website and open an account with stars or another of the selected sites. it is the most important piece of equipment u will everr buy. brilliant for reviewing sessions, storing hand histories, evaluating your plays, provides u with graphs and gives u a HUD (a heads up display) providing u with stats on ur opponents based on the hands u have played with them.

2+2 is the best information you can find on the web, and the best bit its free. it is a great community with tonnes of information, so if u want to learn about cash poker, or any poker, u are in the right place.

the beginners forum is the place to start, its great

although it wasnt WCGRider who replied, i hope i was of help to you.

Welcome to the forums MLIBLAD

@riverrrrboy

I personally go to youtube and turn some mind relaxing music. Don't listen to some rock or rap stuff, try to clear your mind. There are many videos on the net where you will find how to overcome stress and clear your mind.
Also your A game goes to C game when playing too many hours a day. My self,I do breaks 2 hours and 30min rest with no pc involved in it,unless its music playing while im stretching out.
I try to analyze that hand right away and look why I have lost that pot ? Was that a bad beat ? Did I made move ? What got me there?

How not to tilt ?
Well that come with practice and still you lose it once in while

How to stay focus 110% ?
Your brain is like a muscle, you gotta train it to get bigger or smarter. I suggest you to try something like lumositydotcom and feed your brain. They have trial period for new members.

Cheers

Hi, thanks for doing this thread btw, really nice info so far, just wondered if you could help me with a hand i had earlier on 2nl, 6max. Over 29 hands i had SB stats as 44vp/24pfr

PokerStars - $0.02 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

UTG: $0.63
MP: $2.56
CO: $1.31
BTN: $1.88
SB: $2.56
Hero (BB): $2.00

SB posts SB $0.01, Hero posts BB $0.02

Pre Flop: ($0.03) Hero has A K

fold, fold, CO calls $0.02, fold, SB raises to $0.08, Hero raises to $0.22, CO calls $0.20, SB calls $0.14

Flop: ($0.66, 3 players) 5 7 A
SB checks, Hero bets $0.40, CO calls $0.40, SB raises to $0.80, Hero raises to $1.78 and is all-in, CO calls $0.69 and is all-in, SB calls $0.98

Turn: ($5.31, 3 players) A

River: ($5.31, 3 players) 9

SB shows 5 5 (Full House, Fives full of Aces) (PreFlop 37%, Flop 96%, Turn 86%)
Hero shows A K (Three of a Kind, Aces) (PreFlop 39%, Flop 2%, Turn 14%)
CO shows 2 7 (Two Pair, Aces and Sevens) (PreFlop 23%, Flop 2%, Turn 0%)
SB wins $5.05

did i play this right and was it right to shove?

thanks in advance

been playing pokerstars sunday storm for last six weeks, in first hour I have been lucky enough to get chip stack to 20 to 25K then I have had someone join table with similar or more chip stack, they push all in pre flop and every time I have had AA and everytime they have had 33,55,44,77,22,88. Hit three of a kind and I am gone am I doing anything wrong should I not be calling all in pre flop or is it just a run of bad luck.
06-06-2011 , 09:58 AM
if your opponent is willing , you should always be willing to get it all in preflop with aces . Your just running into some bad variance . They are hitting one of the 2 cards left in the deck to beat you . Your getting it in as an 80% favorite . You can take those odds everytime

What is your opinion on playing 40bb? I've been 3-4 tabling 5NL and 10NL rush playing 40bb over the last 30k hands at around 3bb/100. Is it more profitable to be playing deeper? My style is very high variance as I shove wide in spots I feel like I am ahead. I don't play any suited connectors (mid ones) and don't open small pocket pairs in EP. Would there be a lot of adjustments required if I play deeper?

How do u PM someone?
06-12-2011 , 06:31 PM
You need to have a certain number of posts first and have been a forum member for a certain amount of time to activate pm's . No one knows how long or how many posts you need .

Hi, great thread!

1. Please can someone help me with pokertracker - ive searched for a thread that helps you decipher your stats but cant find anything. Can someone please give me the link?

2. Am i right in thinking that Pokertracker only helps you with Cash Games?

3. I used to play at Pokerroom a few years back and did well on the SNGs there. Ive been playing on Betfred SNGs here and there and now I have a month off so want to play regularly. All i keep hearing about is Pokerstars - is this the best site to play SNGs? By best I mean easiest.

4. Also id love to qualify for a televised/big tournament, is Stars the best for this too?

5. Are there any tourneys you would recommend playing in regarding the above, on Stars or otherwise?

Thanks guys

Hi.
I got 2 questions.

1. What exactly does c/c c/r c/f mean? i am pretty sure it means continuation call etc but i just want to be sure.

2. If i am heads up a against an huge fish. like with a vpip of 95% calls almost every 3bb bet from BB how often should i open raise here on SB? He is a bad player and i know im much better. Iv'e heard that i should almost always open raise on the button but i don't know if it's profitible against a player that almost always calls me.

please pm me.

Thanks!

Check/call, Check/Raise, Check/Fold. so you check, your oppnent bets, you call his bet = check/call = c/c etc.

Against super loose fish, value bet him to death. No point raising any 2 as he will just call.

Btw could you analyse this hand for me pls.

Setup

2-2 NL live cashgame

Utg 230 stack
Hero utg+1 278 stack
Cutoff 320 stack

Utg raise to 10, I minraise to 24, didnt want to chase him out... Cutoff and utg calls.
Flop looks very innocent J45 rainbow.

Utg checks, I bet 30 and cutoff raise 110 utg folds.

I was like did hè hit à set?! But after Somers thinking I thought if hè had à set hè wouldnt raise me to 110. If I was standing in his Shoes I would just call. So I went all in...

Hè called after Somers thinking and had 45 offsuit... Did I play my kings correctly or should I have played it differently?

Doug you are such a cool dude. If I ever (finally) beat the micros I shall buy you a cheezeburger

I looked a bit and couldn't find an answer to this stoopid question...

In NLHE T&P, the starting hands (using the UR, UL, UF terminology) is prefaced "for 5/10 games." They seem pretty loose and geared towards draws instead of TPTK play. Given we at 1/2NL live face passive players to the point we need to start at 6x+limpers as our standard size, we really reduce SPRs quickly...leading more to power hands instead of drawing hands for deeper stacks.

How would you adjust his range for typical 1/2NL games? Take out 45s-89s and sub in more AJs/ATs hands in LP? etc etc etc

Sorry! Kinda new to this forum and poker world. What does 20NL means? $20 No limit? or 20 big blinds No limit?
