Today is a milestone for Party.
Their number of players has now officially dropped to below what they were prior to Black Friday and their resultant 45% increase in traffic from FTP refugees. Impressive Party, impressive. No other network has managed this feat, not even Bodog. The first bump in that graph is after the closure of FTP. The mid point of the graph is when Party swapped to weighted contributed. Party, my hat's off to you.
I just hope they get their act together. The industry is suffering so badly right now when there basically is no real competitor to Stars. Hiring skilled programmers would be a huge first step. I am trying my hardest to not be bigoted (and probably failing) but it is so blatantly obvious every time a company outsources their software to the cheapest bidder in India, and you can bet the house that's what Party is doing. Would you let some guy of questionable qualifications run your company just because he only asks for 1/20th of what everybody else is asking? Obviously not. Why in the world would you do the same when it comes to the software that IS your company, your business.
You get what you pay for.
And just like on every other site that has done it thus far, changing to weighted contributed accomplished little besides providing a short term revenue boost followed by steadily killing off the games. Party should learn from Stars' reaction. I will state here that, barring a bid to go public, within 6 months Stars will turn away from weighted contributed or do something to inject money back into the poker economy such as lower rake, increase the VPP multiplier, etc. You can't just randomly take millions out of the poker economy and expect it to keep on trucking. There is 0 chance Stars will passively stand by and watch their games die as Party seems to be doing.
Party, do it right. We need competition in this industry.
