And how long does it take to clear?

It should've in your account overnight.Clearing is a misnomer, the bank normally puts it in your account and it clears weeks in the future.

I tried withdrawing by wire but saw that Bovada won't let you wire to BOA. Does anyone know which banks they DO accept? Wells Fargo maybe?

Sigh. I requested a vff cashout and it was cancelled because my card isn't eligible. Because I'm in Washington it's apparently my only option. I have another card but it's by the same bank and I never use it. It's a major bank too so I'm not sure why this is an issue. The supervisor had to contact the payment processor and I'll hear back within 48 hours on what my options are. I tequested half my balance since I'm a bit worried about future problems.

My only complaint is I was instantly charged a $2.50 monthly fee as soon as the funds hit my card. Is this normal?

Between that and ATM fees I guess you will be paying roughly 1-2% in fees for this method compared to using a check or VFF.

Here's the deal with the ATM withdraws.

Even the free ATM in town charged me $2.50 per $400 I withdrew. So that's $5 total($2.50 from the card company) per $400.

I did two withdraws, then went inside to try doing max cashbacks at the grocery store. I wasn't charged any fee. So if possible I'd suggest you guys avoid the ATM and just go buy stuff you need from the store and do a $100 cash back each time. If you have well into the 4 figures this is obviously a pain but for a few hundred bucks you can save some money.

So to get money I have to send the check to someone out of a restricted state and have them send it to me. Seems like such a hassle. I should just get a new credit card...

Did you receive a tracking number before the check arrived?

I just did a minimum test deposit with my debit card through the same bank. Went through fine so I just requested another withdrawal. It's through the same bank so it likely won't work but it can't hurt to try. If I can't get this to work I'll probably have to withdraw my whole role via a few checks because I don't want to deal with having to send the check to someone out of state every time.

Not sure if this is the appropriate thread for this question... so if it's not I would appreciate if anyone could send me in the right direction.

I recently got my Bovada account to $1,000 plus and it has got me thinking about theoretical situations that could arise if I run it up more.

I haven't made a withdrawal yet but I'm not too worried about that because it appears that people do get their money, be it check or VFF or wire or whatever.

I'm curious about how players with thousands of dollars in withdraws would go about filing taxes on those winnings.

I mean, it's illegal to gamble/play poker online in the U.S. It seems like getting paid is a bit sketchy and can rquire some fabricating the truth about where the money came from if the bank asks. But say you get the big checks. And say the banks process them and you have cash in hand. Thousands of dollars.

The government surely wants their cut. But it's "illegal" money, yes?

How do I give them their cut without lying about where the money came from?

I guess what my concerns boil down to are... if I run it up and have thousands of dollars of "illegal" money to withdrawal and end up getting that money, can i file taxes on it without the government being like ummmmmmmm?

I really appreciate any help I could get...

i'm curious about this as I just moved to new jersey and have a check which is going to be delivered to new jersey address. Why do you say you have to send the check to another state? Then you state you want to withdraw your role via checks b/c you don't feel like sending a check? why do that if you don't feel like it?

Also, I find it odd you can deposit onto bovada as my acct is withdraw only. Therefore a busted acct would mean bye bye bovada(need good br management obviously) Be careful about withdrawing your balance as you might(?) not be able to deposit again.

Also, Washington state is actually the only state in america where it's illegal to play online poker. It's a felony (i don't think anyone has been charged tho). I suspect washington state is the most difficult state in america for bovada to pay.

People talk about what to say to the bank teller etc if they ask and they almost never ask, but for YOU it is very important that no one finds out you play online poker.

good luck. stay safe.

They said my only option was to have the check sent to someone I trust in another state to send to me. I have no idea why but it's the only option they gave me besides trying another card to deposit and withdraw too. Apparently they can't send a check to a wa address and my original visa I used to deposit wouldn't work for a cashout. I wish I had another visa through another bank I could try but I don't. I am trying to move out of state anyway so I wouldn't be upset if I couldn't deposit again while in WA.

wow. that's crazy. i knew that state was tough but damn. so to be clear, when you click withdraw you can not withdraw a check as it is not even an option. you don't have any withdrawal options listed. you would have to call support and have them send a check to the out of state address of your choice. correct?

The vff option is there. Tried that and got denied. Spoke to a supervisor and that was my other option.

ill bet you have to find someone out of state to ultimately get money. sucks because even if you have a really good friend or a relative you might want to pay them for their time. they will have to
1. wait for fedex/dhl
2. be home during the day to sign for it OR pick it up at fed ex if they miss it
3. go to a large national bank they are a member of and deposit it manually as atm will not accept
4. be nervous if they are not a poker player and used to depositing these sketchy checks (what do i say if they ask where it's from is a question asked amillion times in this forum)
5. wait for it to clear
6. send you a personal check or wire the money to your bank acct.

this is asking a lot. I would even pay a really really good friend 50 to 100 bucks to do this for a 3k check, just for all their time and pressure. and you gotta really really trust the person obv.

wow. i thought jersey had it bad.

good luck

I think the check is still in my name but I should verify that. No way none of my family out of state would cash it. My old college roommate who still plays is sadly in NY state and I'm pretty sure they're restricted as well.

oh i should tell you that the checks can not be cashed, only deposited.

your friend in ny might actually work, this is because although ny is restricted, they are not washington state uber restricted. a ny acct can likely still get checks sent to it like nj is. If the check is in your name,, then you have to 'sign it over' to your friend which is just another headache of a step.

its a long shot but maybe try calling bovada and say that you want your cash western union or money gram. There are people who get money grams it's called a rapid transfer i believe
